Position Type: After School/After School Programs Date Posted: 8/12/2024 Location: David Wooster Middle School Date Available: Immediately Closing Date: 12/25/2024   Additional Information: Show/Hide Wooster Middle School 21st Century Project Director GENERAL STATEMENT The 21st Century Community Learning Center Program is an afterschool program of the Stratford Public Schools operated in cooperation with Town of Stratford Community Services. The program is offered at two sites, Flood and Wooster Middle Schools, and, pending approval, is funded through the State Department of Education (SDE. The project director is supervised by Flood and Wooster Middle School principals and oversees the development, implementation and staffing of the program. Program staff include two site coordinators, a secretary, teachers and a classroom instructional aide at each middle school. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES * Administer the program budget and monitor the expenditures of funds in coordination with District Grant Supervisor and Middle School Principals. * Recruit, orient, and train program staff. * Coordinate staff orientation and professional development components. * Schedule all activities: academic instruction and enrichment; youth development and fitness activities; parent/student activities and parent sessions. * Secure outside instructors as needed and monitor their work. * Develop and implement program policies and procedures. * Select instructional supplies and materials. * Monitor data collection, analyze data and prepare reports as required. * Develop and distribute informational materials to publicize program including newsletters, press releases and/or website postings. * Coordinate a comprehensive outreach plan for students and parents. * Facilitate Parent Advisory Council meetings and coordinate parent activities with both program sites. * Promote positive relationships with the staff, students and parents. * Attend all SDE grantee meetings as required. * Conduct other assigned duties as required to facilitate the administration of the grant program. QUALIFICATIONS * Current Connecticut teaching certification * Ability to work cooperatively with staff and to exercise leadership in site supervision and program development * Experience organizing and directing educational programs TERM Program will start pending grant approval. The program operates for 33 weeks from 2:45 to 5:45 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with evening and weekend programs as scheduled. There are an additional 4 weeks of the program are in the summer from 9-12. SALARY The Project Director is paid $34.31 an hour for 9 hours a week for 37 weeks (4 weeks of the summer are included in these weeks) plus a $2000 annual stipend.
