Stamford Health is looking for a Full Time (37.50 hrs.) Plant Operations Supervisor. Responsible for supervising the daily operations of the central utility plant, plumbing, heating and HVAC division of the Facilities Management Department. Ensures efficient and compliant operations of the plant on a 24/7 basis. Reporting to the Manager of Plant Facilities, the Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the mechanics in leading the day-to-day operational functions of the department, schedule necessary systems repairs/replacements, and assist in the development, implementation and administration of preventive and corrective maintenance programs associated with the Physical Plant infrastructure. The Supervisor with direction from the Plant Manager, manages the planning of job schedules and coordinates with outside contractors, and assists with the resolution of issues. Solid knowledge and trouble-shooting skills with 1) Building Automation Systems. 2) Air/Water Balancing and 3) steam systems. Strong computer skills can work under minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks. Previous experience in a hospital or Facilities/Engineering maintenance background is a plus. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Oversee the operation of all plant equipment, including boilers, generators, HVAC, and auxiliary systems. * * Lead and supervise a team of plant operators, technicians, and support staff. * * Assign tasks, provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure staff adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures. * * Enforce plant safety protocols and environmental regulations; conduct regular safety audits, and ensure all equipment is safe and operational. * * Perform quality control checks on preventative maintenance completed by plant operations staff. * * The Supervisor shall be familiar with the central plant and campus systems managed and ensures compliance with all Stamford Hospital policies and procedures. * * Work with plant manager, operators and key stakeholders to plan scheduled outages for maintenance and repair. * * Responsible for maintaining the inventory of all equipment/tools/supplies and spare parts as it relates to the plant. * * Assigns work order tickets via CMMS for work order tracking and compliance. * * Work with team to manage shift schedules ensuring that adequate coverage is in place. * * Work under direction of plant manager on plant optimization efforts to reduce utilities and consumption. * * Supervise all compliance testing including air quality, pressure relationships and water treatment. * * Maintain accurate documentation on boilers and related equipment to fulfill regulatory requirements. Assists in creating regulatory reports. * * Produce mechanical room round sheet and ensure building/plant rounds are conducted every shift. * * Ensure all regulatory related preventative maintenance is completed at its assigned frequency. * * Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Automated Building Control System (BMS) * * Meets daily with direct reports to review and exchange expectations and concerns. * * The Plant Operations Supervisor responds to emergency situations (floods, fires, etc.) * * Participates in project design and plan review for all plant & campus renovations, as required. * High School Required. * * Trade/vocational School graduate with 5 years of relevant experience and 1-3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in hospital or healthcare setting. * * Must have the Operations Engineer II (OE2) or Unlimited Heating, Piping, and Cooling (S2) License or have the ability to obtain within 12 months of employment. * * Hands-on experience in performing trouble shooting, repairs and maintenance of all types of HVAC and Environmental Controls Systems not limited to AHU distribution systems, VAV Systems, Medical Gas/Vacuum Systems, FCU Systems, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Chillers, Boilers, Steam specialties. * * Must have high pressure steam and building automation experience as well prior use of a computerized preventative maintenance program. * * Knowledge of local and state codes necessary.
