Apply Job Type Full-time Description COMPANY OVERVIEW Becht Engineering BT, Inc. supports our Building Technologies clientele by providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP&FP) and structural engineering, insurance/forensics investigations, project management and construction management services. Our engineering staff includes multi-disciplined licensed professionals, as well as LEED Accredited Professionals, Certified Energy Auditors and Certified Energy Managers. Our Project Management and construction management staff is comprised of licensed building inspectors, mechanical inspectors, certified building plan examiners, Registered Roofing/Exterior Wall Observers, and Reserve Specialists certified by the Community Association Institute. POSITION OVERVIEW Performs construction oversight and project management of our client's engineering and construction projects as well as surveys and inspections of buildings and related systems to document systems, elements and/or components. Work involves construction management of all types of building structures including residential complexes, condominiums and homeowner associations, commercial, educational, and industrial facilities. Project management work may include assistance with coordination of design activities from initial conception through project completion. Scope may include assistance with preparation of bid documents, contractor evaluations and oversight of contractors during work. Reserve studies include field observation and quantification of items, and inputting data/information into proprietary software. Employee must exercise considerable tact, courtesy, and firmness in dealing with contractors, owners and the general public. Technical Responsibilities Collects data and gathers information or documents. Performs standard computations or analysis. Assists with preparation of drawings, technical documents. Observes construction activities. Performs basic survey and field work. Performs basic design tasks. Assists on other tasks such as: Invasive inspections, preparation of bid packages, material testing. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provides work effort in accordance with contractual scope of work. Performs construction and worksite inspections. Construction Management and administration, which may include involvement in conceptual design, preparation of bid documents for procurement, assistance with evaluation of contractors, cost estimating, project scheduling, and contractor supervision. Prepares reports of inspection findings including photographs. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Attends/Participates in industry marketing events to develop relationships with prospective clients and other business relationships. Stores all project related documents and correspondence within prescribed project folder/server locations. Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, walk on both low slope and sloped roofs, walk on paved and grass surfaces at project sites for an entire 8-hour work period and physically perform all necessary physical inspections. Performs other job duties as assigned. Work locations include job sites, meeting sites, marketing event locations, and Becht Office location when not required offsite. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's/Associate's degree preferred, or commensurate construction experience. High School graduate at a minimum. Residential and / or commercial building inspection experience preferred. Must be dependable, self-motivated and work well under supervision. Ability to work independently and with others as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey thoughts clearly and concisely. Valid US Driver's License
