About Third Falcon Third Falcon is a French restaurant in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. We were born from a background in fine dining and a particular love and appreciation for the culinary traditions and philosophy of French cooking, eating, and drinking. About the Role: We're hiring a motivated, intelligent and passionate sommelier to educate, serve and inspire our clients. An ideal candidate would have 2+ years experience in fine dining or in wine-focused dining with a particular love and knowledge of French wines and cuisine. Someone who's love of and knowledge of wine will enable them to teach and inspire colleagues and guests. The best candidates will be hardworking, kind, resourceful and motivated to grow with a new company. Key Responsibilities Welcoming guests and communicating the essence of our style of warmth and hospitality as they enter Thorough knowledge of the menu, wine and beverage list, and food served Ability to take on a section when needed and provide support on the floor. Make wine recommendations for guests as they are welcomed into the space and based on their meal, preferences, budget and knowledge Communicate knowledge clearly and enthusiastically with guests and teammates Maximize profit through strategic beverage sales strategy Ensure inventory levels are maintained and correct ordering procedures are carried out. Ensure the wine cellar is clean, organized and well stocked at all times Offer training and mentorship to new hires to help them gain a sense of belonging and knowledge Understanding the ethos, and thought process behind our list and using that to assist in the further development of wine program and make suggestions for BTG and special programming IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS Ideally 2 years of experience in wine or beverage service within fine dining or wine focused dining Relevant experience in hospitality/restaurant operations Extensive knowledge pertaining to all aspects of winegrowing, wine production, wine styles, and regional wine laws pertaining to classic regions from around the world with an emphasis on French wine (Wine certifications a bonus) Ability and willingness to contribute to the growth of a diverse French wine program Excellent computer competency, well-versed in booking and inventory systems Commitment to service quality, excellence, and sincere hospitality Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to self-manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a timely manner Proven verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time, tackle flights of stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity and inclusion and belonging at our company.
