POSITION OVERVIEW The Construction Maintenance Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment. This position requires proficiency in plumbing, electrical work, sheet rock installation and repair, spackling, cabinet installation, tile work, and general construction tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Plumbing: Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and fittings. Identify and troubleshoot plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, and drainage problems. Electrical Work: Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, switches, outlets, and lighting fixtures. Troubleshoot electrical problems and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Sheet Rock Installation and Repair: Install and repair sheet rock walls and ceilings. Measure, cut, and fit drywall panels as needed. Apply spackling compound and sand surfaces to achieve a smooth finish. Cabinet Installation: Assemble and install cabinets, shelves, and other storage solutions. Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and anchoring of cabinets. Modify cabinets as necessary to fit specific spaces. Tile Work: Install, repair, and replace tile flooring, backsplashes, and walls. Prepare surfaces for tile installation, apply adhesive, and grout tile joints. Ensure precision in tile layout and alignment. Demolition: Safely demolish and remove existing structures, fixtures, and materials as required for renovation or repair projects. Dispose of debris in accordance with established procedures and regulations. General Construction Tasks: Assist with various construction tasks as needed, such as framing, insulation, painting, and finishing work. Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently. WORK ENVIRONMENT The Construction Maintenance will primarily work in indoor and outdoor settings, depending on the nature of the project. This role may involve exposure to various weather conditions, loud noises, and potentially hazardous materials. The ability to work safely and adhere to safety protocols is essential. Additionally, the technician may need to travel to different job sites and interact with clients, contractors, and other team members. QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience in plumbing, electrical work, sheet rock installation and repair, spackling, cabinet installation, tile work, and general construction. Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or apprenticeship in plumbing, electrical work, or construction preferred. Relevant certifications or licenses may be required depending on local regulations.
