Industrial Vacuum Field Service Technician Location: Ideal commute or relocation to the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington) Relocation Assistance is available. This position could require frequent travel dependent upon home location and distance to customer sites within the assigned region. Travel could be up to 50%, overnight, and for multiple days. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for: Installs, analyzes, troubleshoots, maintains and services Leybold vacuum pumps and related equipment (mechanical and electrical) in the field. Improve sales of spare parts, service repairs and other aftermarket services within an assigned geographical territory and assigned target main accounts. Main Responsibilities: Work with local account managers and service organization to increase sales of spare parts and aftermarket services of Leybold and Brand X products and helps to identify and penetrate new accounts within assigned regions. Installs, analyzes, troubleshoots, maintains and services Leybold pumps and related equipment (mechanical and electrical) in the field. Achieve budget goals for sales of spares and aftermarket services. Support new product qualifications and installations. Provide technical advice, assistance and product training to customers. Maintain relations between the customer and Leybold on field service and aftermarket sales matters. Determine and recommend which products or services best fit the customers' needs. Together with sales, identifies areas for product improvement or needs for new products. Maintain historical log of site visits and write trip reports and continue to follow-up on activities to ensure customers' needs have been satisfied. Assist Sales Channels in selling our products and services by providing technical expertise to prospective and established customers. Increase employee's knowledge of Leybold products by facilitating installation, startup, and maintenance of related equipment. Help develop additional field service staff. Other duties as assigned. Conditions of Employment: You must submit an OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire and pass a pulmonary function test. Will utilize a full-face respirator. While performing the duties of this job, you are exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. You are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. You are occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within office building, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Your work will require frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Education level Associate degree in technical related field or equivalent field experience. Relevant Previous experience 2 years or more of field service experience Knowledge areas/Skills Individuals with vacuum technology experience a plus. (e.g., vacuum systems, turbopumps, dry pumps, booster pumps, leak detectors, rotary vane pumps, vacuum gauges and cryo pumps) Ability to develop strong customer relationships and promote aftermarket sales and service. Working knowledge of electronics, electrical systems and mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated urgency to respond to customer requirements. Other requirements Organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter. Working knowledge of personal computer environments (i.e. Microsoft office). Valid driver's license required. Scope of the Job: Geographical scope of the role: Domestic Travel, based Northeast US. Interaction skills required for the role: Face-to-face, written, and verbal. Internal and external factors which would affect this role: travel, weather, parts availability, etc. Pattern of work cycle: travel planning, prioritize work assigned, and no coordinating required.
