Job Responsibilities THIS POSITION IS REPOSTED * Previous applicants are still under consideration and do not need to reapply* With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital, 130 SC-252, Anderson, SC 29621. As the General Maintenance Technician II, working under general supervision, you will perform such tasks as general maintenance and repair, installations, and troubleshooting of all types of building systems and structures to ensure that the facility structure and systems are maintained in good repair and working order. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electrical switching devices, distribution systems, lighting fixtures, electrical motors, and motor controls, fire alarms and door security systems and other types of electrical circuits and systems required. Installs electrical conduits and raceways as necessary. * Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all HVAC equipment including, but not limited to fans, centralized chillers, air handlers, cooling towers, plumbing fixtures and pumps. Maintains/performs testing for facility outdoor swimming pool and related equipment as scheduled. * Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all types of plumbing systems and devices such as drains, water lines, valves, plumbing fixtures and pumps. * Must be able to operate computers utilizing various software programs such as: Physical Plant maintenance management programs involving work orders and materials accountability, building support systems, and other systems as necessary. * Installs, repairs and/or builds bookshelves, cabinets, dry walls, masonry, roofing, floor coverings, walls, concrete and concrete forms. Installs, maintains and repairs doors and door hardware. * Participates in on-call rotation. Transports new hires to Columbia, SC as needed. * Maintains clinical competence by mastering required mandatory and non-mandatory in-services or training, such as MAPS, CPR, and SCEIS Modules. Minimum and Additional Requirements Trades experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Preferred Qualifications A high school diploma and experience in a related trades area with emphasis on commercial electrical. Electrical license. Additional Comments The selected candidate must be able to understand blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform heavy manual labor. Requires considerable knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in general building maintenance as well as the methods and practices of the designated trades. Ability to stoop, walk, stand, crouch, lift fifty (50) pounds, pull, climb ladders, scaffolds, platforms at various heights and levels daily. Ability to move, load and carry all necessary equipment.
