Salary offered may be outside of this range as impacted by budget, UNC salary administration, and/or candidate qualifications. $67,000 - $90,000 Position Location (City) Greenville Position Type Non-Faculty Job Category Non-Faculty Staff Professional Organizational Unit Overview The Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor is the chief academic officer under the Chancellor, and is responsible for the leadership, review, and approval of all academic programs and policies and the appointment, promotion and compensation of the faculty. In addition to the University's academic colleges and schools, the graduate school, and the libraries; the Division includes enrollment management and services, faculty excellence, research, global engagement, engagement and economic development, university interdisciplinary programs, and other units associated with Academic Affairs. Job Duties The Director of Projects and Planning role is responsible for operational oversight, coordination and planning of strategic initiatives both for the Office of the Provost, as well as those involving the Office of the Provost and other units of the University. Reporting to the Provost, the Director of Projects and Planning (DPP) will have managerial responsibility for the Provost's executive assistant. The DPP position collaborates with senior administration on strategic and University projects and planning involving the Provost and engages the Provost and academic colleges/schools that report to the Provost. This position is part of the Provost's senior leadership team and works closely with leadership and administrators within and across the University and the UNC System office to ensure achievement of strategic initiatives and goals. The DPP position leverages operational and strategic decision-making and project management to ensure the functions of the Provost's office across the University, as well as the organization, timely progression, and deliverables of projects. Key responsibilities include: High-Level and Strategic Projects * This position works closely with the Provost, and/or the Provost's designee, for divisional and institutional strategy and analysis to initiate, coordinate, and execute the strategic planning process for the Academic Affairs Division. * Responsible for the oversight, supervision and timely progression of assigned initiatives that enhance and promote the goals and objectives of the division in support the division's strategic direction and priorities. * Develops and executes an action plan for the internal marketing of the division that aligns with institutional goals and is consistent with University standards. Organizational and Strategic Planning The Provost's office is the academic hub of the university and is integral to the University's academic success and innovations. This position will: * Work closely with the administrators in the immediate Provost's office as well as the colleges and units that report under the Provost's office to develop and implement processes to ensure compliance to policies and ensure efficiency and continuity for those processes. * Assist Provost with planning and implementing initiatives that engage academic colleges and/or other units within Academic Affairs and ensures that the Provost is up to date on progress, timelines, issues or concerns. This is a critical and high impact responsibility of this role and important to the success of Provost Office initiatives. * Work with Provost Office units, particularly on multi-unit, high value, and strategic projects to ensure timely execution of deliverables. This includes leveraging project management tools and preparing schematics to assist with communication and coordination with project partners, and with various University audiences. * Develop goals, milestones and anticipate outcomes, action items and performance measurements and metrics. General Administration * Supervise the executive assistant to the Provost to include training, delegating tasks, planning and general supervision to ensure consistency in operations, norms, customer service for the office. * Ensure that workgroup goals are in sync with the Provost's goals and objectives by collaborating with and partnering with the Provost and the members of the Provost's Leadership Council. * Lead and manage policies, regulations and rules processes associated with Academic Affairs, including working with the provost's executive assistant to ensure clear, efficient, and effective submission, review, and updating procedures and timetables. This includes consolidating input from University stakeholders, when applicable. * Responsible for ad hoc projects assigned by the Provost, related to the division and/or university priorities, communications, and/or special assignments from the UNC-SO. Contingent upon availability of funds. Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in the area of assignment, of which at least one is supervisory or in a lead-worker capacity; or equivalent combination of training and experience. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation none Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education * Results and detail-oriented individual with excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. * Exceptional written and verbal communications skills and strong project management experience. * Ability to work collaboratively on a team among a diverse group of academic and administrative colleagues. * Comprehensive knowledge of academic and/or administrative procedures. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a high degree of accuracy.
