Our Bed-Stuy location is looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused baristas to join our growing team. Job Summary : As a barista at Ginjan Café, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, engaging with customers, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about coffee, love interacting with people, and have a keen interest in African culture and flavors. Key Responsibilities : Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service. Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including espresso drinks, specialty coffee, juices, and African-inspired drinks (such as our signature Ginjan). Ensure the consistency and quality of all beverages and food items. Operate coffee machines, grinders, juicers, and other equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the café seating area, counter, and equipment. Adhere to all health and safety standards, including food handling, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines. Handle cash, process payments, and manage point-of-sale transactions accurately. Educate customers about the Ginjan Café menu, African flavors, and any seasonal offerings. Assist with stocking supplies and ingredients as needed. Qualifications : Prior experience as a barista or in a customer service role is preferred, but not required (we are willing to train the right candidate). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A passion for coffee, beverages, and providing an excellent customer experience. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed. Interest in or knowledge of African culture and beverages is a plus.
