Job Title:"¯ Head Sommelier Direct Supervisor:"¯ Beverage Director, Kimberly Cavoores Direct Reports: Status: Non-exempt Position Type: Full-time Position Overview Café Zaffri, in the soon-to-be-open Hotel Twenty Two, is looking for a dedicated, detail and guest-oriented, curious, proactive, and organized team player. Café Zaffri is a part of Elizabeth Street Hospitality (Raf's and Musket Room). The Head sommelier will support the wine and beverage service on the floor, will be involved in the cellar management, inventory management and ordering. The sommelier will also participate in tastings, seminars and staff training. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in hospitality - preferably fine dining restaurant, a solid understanding of the basics of the wine, spirits and beverage world. Benefits Company to cover 50% of Health, Dental, Vision benefits. 401K, Dining Discount, Paid Time Off. Base Salary Hourly rate $16-18 an hour + tips. Admin day: Hourly admin rate Duties and Responsibilities "¯ Details of the Role: Ability to lift 40+ lbs; ~40-50 hours per week Responsibilities of the Role:"¯ In collaboration with the Beverage Director of TTT, responsible for the following: Manage the beverage program to align with Elizabeth Street Hospitality and The Twenty Two's philosophy, ensuring quality and consistency. Deliver staff training on the beverage program to enhance knowledge and service standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, cellars, and storerooms, following preventative maintenance protocols. Ensure compliance with regulations related to health, safety, and labor requirements and handle all required paperwork accurately. Monitor inventory and manage orders for beverages, maintaining budgeted levels and adjusting based on consumption and sales trends. Oversee and support the beverage team to deliver exceptional guest experiences and address any needs or issues. Receive, stock, and inventory wines, liquor, and beer"¯ Determine and maintain pars for wine BTG and pairing selections"¯ Collaborate with wine and culinary teams on wine pairing selections"¯ Work the floor nightly and provide wine and beverage service along with any and all other service needs that arise Qualifications "¯"¯ Minimum 4 years as a sommelier Fine dining experience preferred"¯ Certified/Advanced Sommeliers through the Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent certification and/or corresponding knowledge/experience Demonstration of positive leadership characteristics which inspire team members to meet and exceed standards Passion for exceptional hospitality, food, and beverage Strong computer skills, including knowledge of POS micros, MS Excel, and MS Word. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
