The Expeditor role at KYU is crucial for ensuring smooth communication between the kitchen and front-of-house staff, maintaining the quality and timely presentation of dishes, and contributing to an exceptional dining experience. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage and coordinate the flow of food orders efficiently. Expeditors at KYU are proactive professionals who work closely with the Chef Team, servers, and other staff to guarantee that dishes are correctly prepared, plated, and delivered promptly. This role requires a strong understanding of food presentation, timing, and quality control. As an Expeditor, you will take ownership of reviewing orders, organizing completed dishes, and coordinating the delivery of food items to guests. Strong communication, multitasking, and leadership skills are essential for success. You will play a key role in maintaining the restaurant's high standards and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities: • Manage and organize food orders to ensure efficient flow from the kitchen to the dining area. • Communicate effectively with Line Cooks and front-of-house staff to relay any necessary adjustments or special requests. • Monitor tickets, including allergy and special-request notes, to ensure they are correctly addressed. • Ensure all dish components are ready and assembled for service. • Inspect and approve dishes before they leave the kitchen to meet quality standards. • Maintain an organized and clean expo line for seamless operations. • Collaborate with kitchen staff to address any issues or delays quickly. • Coordinate timing to ensure that all items in a ticket are ready for service simultaneously. • Work closely with the Chef Team to address any discrepancies or feedback regarding food preparation and presentation. • Assist in managing inventory for necessary expo tools and supplies. • Rotate inventory and manage stock efficiently. Skills and Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment. • Strong knowledge of restaurant operations and kitchen processes. • Excellent communication and organizational skills. • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure. • Fine dining experience preferred. • A keen eye for detail and the ability to ensure food presentation meets high standards. • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to direct kitchen and service staff when necessary. • Team-oriented and collaborative approach. • Proactive problem-solving skills. • Positive and enthusiastic attitude. Physical Aspects of the Expeditor Role: • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
