Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Basking Ridge, New Jersey is looking for a Project Manager SUMMARY The primary initial responsibility of this position is to manage projects. Depending on the size and complexity, this may include multiple projects simultaneously. The selected candidate will be directly responsible for all aspects of project execution, including P&L, on the projects that he/she is assigned to. Depending on the workload, the candidate may, at times, be also responsible for preparation of proposals. The candidate will be responsible for the execution of project/projects in accordance with contract documents, as-sold budgets, and the contractual schedule. When working on proposals, candidate shall be responsible for managing the overall effort of preparing such proposals including their preparation/write-up. Within three to four years, the candidate will transition to the position of Performance Engineering Manager. As such, the candidate must have experience in both Project Management and Performance Engineering. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Sr. Project Management Role Clear and comprehensive understanding of the commercial and technical requirements for each assigned project. Preparation of a Project Execution Plan. Primary communication link with the customer. Maintain professional and positive customer relationship. Management of the project team. Preparation of internal monthly cost and progress reports. Preparation of customer monthly report (if contractually required). Ensure projects are executed within as-sold budgets, per contractual schedule, in accordance with contractual documents, and per MPW-ES internal standards. Continuously monitor project budgets and schedule and prepare monthly costs reports. Review project status with VP of Environmental Solutions, highlighting all concerns, variances and any issues that could affect the success of the project. Prepare mitigation plans to address unplanned non-conformities from the original Project Execution Plan. Maintain or increase the original estimated profit for the project. Identify and manage all contract changes and process them on timely basis in accordance with contractual requirements. Conduct internal project meetings with Engineering, Costs Control and Procurement to monitor progress, discuss project challenges and concerns, and develop mitigation plans to address potential problems. Prepare project closeout reports. Prepare "lessons learned" reports at the end of each project. Collaborate with engineering and estimating departments on technical and budget issues, respectively, to prevent their reoccurrence on future project Proposal Management Role Primary interface with the customer throughout the entire proposal process. Establish, cultivate, and maintain excellent professional working relationships with customers, vendors, contractors, subcontractors, and customer's engineer. Review of commercial and technical RFP documents to ensure clear understanding of the work scope, risk, and other commercial aspects of the project. Manage a proposal task force to respond to customer Request for Proposals (RFPs). Preparation of the proposal, including customer presentation material. Prepare initial assessment of the technical, financial, schedule or any other risks associated with the proposal/project. Evaluate, adopt, and initiate risk mitigation plans and techniques and assess technical and commercial risks to ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place. Develop technological and commercial guarantees with the assistance of engineering department. Negotiate commercial terms and conditions. Clearly define the scope of work and services offered to the customer and identify any clarifications or exceptions to the customer's inquiry. Support estimation group as required. Initiate and conduct internal Kick-Off Meetings; attend customer Pre-Bid Meetings and Site walkdowns; conduct Bid Presentation Meetings; and conduct Executive Management Review Meetings. Develop Commercial Risk Assessment/Analysis documentation and Executive Management Review packages. Manager Performance Engineering Role Analyze boiler performance using MPW proprietary programs, both new and old boilers. Candidate must have experience with both coal boilers and Heat Recovery Steam Generators. Air Duct sizing Flue sizing Prepare basic Design Information Sheets (DIs) for equipment such as ducts, flues, FD fans, ID fans, and other process equipment. Manage other engineering resources. Other responsibilities will be defined as the transition from the Project Management/Proposal Management role to Performance Manager approaches. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to work independently and with others. Find creative, common sense and economic solutions to problems. Continuously seek ways to improve products and processes to reduce their overall installed cost. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in boiler performance analysis, with a minimum ten (10) years of work experience in this field. It is expected that the candidate will transition from Project Management responsibilities to becoming the Manager Performance and Application Engineering within four (4) years. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION Education and/or Experience: Candidate must have a BS degree in Engineering as a minimum, comprehensive knowledge of boiler technologies and SCR systems, experience in project management and/or preparation of commercial proposals, and performance engineering in the power industry. Experience with other AQCS systems, such as WFGD, is a plus. Experience with aftermarket type projects is desirable. Candidate shall have a minimum of twenty (20) years of relevant work experience and strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Language Skills: Candidate must be fluent in English. Good communication skills, verbal and written, are essential to the performance of this job. Mathematical Skills: Candidate must possess the necessary mathematical skills required to perform the work and responsibilities described herein. Reasoning Ability: Must be able to make critical decisions, ability to recognize and deal with project risks, direct people, and delegate responsibility. Computer Skills: Candidate must be literate in using common MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and possibly Access. For the Performance Engineering function, candidate must have proven experience working with boiler performance programs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT Candidate will work in an office environment. Short-term travel is required and will entail customer visits, vendor visitations and possible travel to MPW's domestic and international headquarters. International travel within North and South Americas will be normal part of the candidate's duties and as such, candidate must possess a passport. Visits to industrial and power plant settings will be required. JOB LOCATION This position is for Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc., Environmental Solutions group, located in Basking Ridge, NJ.
