Neapco is seeking a results-driven individual to join our team as a Production Superintendent. The Production Superintendent will be responsible for leading the daily responsibilities of the shift while assisting with the professional growth of the Production Supervisors. This position will report to the Manager, Operations and is based at Belleville, Michigan. Compensation dependent upon qualifications. JOB DESCRIPTION: PRODUCTION/MANUFACTURING SUPERINTENDENT Including but not limited to: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides strategic and cultural leadership to the production staff. * Actively promotes and continually drives a culture of continuous improvement. * Set up standard work on best practices and document identified enhancements. * Provides and maintains a positive, productive, and communicative team-based work environment where associates are empowered, accountable, driven, and continually developing to achieve optimal results. * Leads by example and creates and maintains strong partnerships and positive relationships with internal and external associates through open communication, transparency, and performance measurement/feedback. Facilitates cooperation and motivates team members to accomplish group goals. * Maintain strong working relationship with union leadership through open communication during negotiation / grievance meetings. * Fosters a "safety first" culture through training, evaluation, and continual focus, and ensures facility and associate compliance with federal, state, and local EH&S laws and regulations. * Maintains high morale through effective management, including frequent reinforcement of positive behavior and recognition of high performance . * Allocates team resources appropriately to ensure the completion of deliverables and delivery of optimal service to customers and manages labor expenses including overtime at facility to be within or under budget or approved levels. * Ensures the facility is fully operational and maximized in adherence with the company schedule and business requirements. * Ensures the appropriate staffing, cleaning, and operation of all site equipment. * Plans, organizes, directs and runs optimum day-to-day operations to exceed planned deliverables. * Develops systems and processes which track and optimize productivity standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets. * Monitors operational expenses and seeks ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining productivity and product quality. * In collaboration with leadership, track and takes appropriate action where trends are less than optimal, or when results are below company benchmarks/goals/targets. * Drives and participates in the implementation of Lean processes throughout the organization. CORE REQUIREMENTS * Proven track record of success as a Plant Superintendent in the OE and Aftermarket manufacturing industries * Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in a key leadership/management role in a unionized manufacturing facility (automotive manufacturing experience required) * Bachelor's degree in business management (or related discipline) or a combination of education and experience is highly preferred. * Strong business acumen (management principles, strategic planning, critical thinking, budgeting, resource allocation, human resources, etc.) * Strong data analytics and problem-solving skills, ability to review information to determine action items. * Ability to think creatively, finding solutions which are compliant and meet Neapco's Vision, Mission, and Values. * Exceptional leadership, training, and development skills. * Highly proficient with Microsoft programs, including SharePoint and Microsoft Office. * Strong analytical and organizational skills; with attention to detail. * Experience working with ADP payroll and HRMS strongly preferred. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * This position will have up to 9 direct reports. LANGUAGE SKILLS Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required along with strong active listening skills. The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents. The ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, executives, or members of the business community. Must have the ability to write presentations, internal communications and process manuals and instructions that conform to prescribed style and format. Have the ability to effectively present information to all levels of the business & external audiences. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to prepare budgets using Excel applications. Must be able to cover our labor expenses. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and work and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
