Location: Canton, OHEmployment Type: Part Time General Purpose of Job:The Ground Operations Agent is responsible for the handling of customer luggage, including loading and unloading baggage on and off the aircraft, marshaling in and pushing back the aircraft, operation of ground service equipment, meet arriving flights and service departing flights, assist customers with special needs, assist customer service agents, as needed, and any other assigned duties.Duties:The ideal candidate must be highly motivated with a positive and friendly attitude while providing excellent customer service to all of our customersEnsures FAA, Airline, and airport regulations are followedEnforces safety/security measures and protects sensitive zonesAssists Customers with special needs, i.e., Customers who need assistance in boardingLoading and uploading baggage on and off the aircraftTransport cargo between terminals and aircraftOperate ground equipment, including tugs and belt loadersMarshalling Aircraft and equipmentPhysical handling of freight and company materialClean and service cabin interiors, including cockpit, lavatories, and draining when neededUse safety-related equipment and provide de-icing service to aircraft when neededMentors less experience employeesPrioritizes tasks for the safe and timely arrivals and departures of aircraft during assigned shiftsMakes timely decisions to support efficient and safe operations when unexpected changes in aircraft schedules occurOther duties as assigned by the base supervisorQualifications:Excellent communication skillsAbility to push/pull/lift 50 lbs. for extended periods of timeAbility to read and write English; bilingual skills a plusAbility to work efficiently under time constraintsMust be available to work varied hours including swing and graveyard shifts plus weekends and holidaysMust be 18 years or olderHigh School diploma or GED equivalentMust have authorization to work in the U.S.Must have valid Driver's licenseMust be willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environmentCompetency/Behavioral Requirements:Be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative attitudeBe reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfill obligationsStrong attention to detailMaintain composure, keep emotions in check, control anger, and avoid aggressive behavior even in difficult situationsAccept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations be open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplaceWillingness to take on responsibilities and challengesBe sensitive to others' needs and feelings and be understanding and helpful on the jobPhysical Demands:Must be able to carry 50-pound suitcase from the floor to 18 inches and carry 50-pound suitcase in front of you with both hands for a distance of up to 25 feet; must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time. Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position.Work Environment:Airport environment: Indoors and Outdoors.
