The ability to prioritize work, track progress, and execute timely follow up is critical. The position will be located at Camp Chamberlain in Augusta. This position presently serves as the Maine Army National Guard expert on all matters involving visitor control, works closely with facility security, and is a primary integrator of functional protection elements. Primary responsibilities include: + Manages and records background check systems and documents. Verifies individual identity and detects potential conflicts to decrease security threats to personnel and assets. + Manages correspondence between the Department of Facilities Engineering and the Provost Marshal Office, vetting applicants, contractors, and employees within active engineering contracts through systematic background investigation. + Conducts Visitor Control Operations including screening and vetting of visitors and personnel in accordance with regulation and instructions as applicable with State/ Territory laws and statures. + Contributes to the development, review, and disposition of standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives. + Manages the electronic key card system for the Maine National Guard. Serves as the focal point for the Access and Key Control Standard Operating Procedure. + Implements and enacts the Maine National Guard Active Shooter Program and Emergency Management Program. + Develop state-level unescorted access policies and procedures for Maine Army National Guard facilities. + Responsible for providing direct guidance to multiple security guards stations and uniformed personnel in charge of facility security in all Maine Army National Guard armories and facilities during times of crisis. Skills or knowledge required: + Knowledge of basic security procedures and policies; including access control to monitor threats to facilities and assets. + Ability to pass a national-level background screening. + Ability to order equipment and supplies and track the orders; Ability to organize information and processes. Minimum qualifications: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks requiring specialized skills, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, Office Associate I and Office Associate II.
