Job Type Full-timeDescriptionNight Shift: Monday - Friday 4pm-3:30amThe Production Supervisor assumes a critical role in the oversight and coordination of manufacturing operations. This position carries the responsibility of optimizing production processes, upholding quality benchmarks, and cultivating a safe and productive work environment. Additionally, the Production Supervisor supervises and coordinates the daily production activities of production staff.Duties + Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate day-to-day manufacturing activities, including machine operation, material handling, and production scheduling.Lead and motivate production team members to achieve daily production targets and quality goals.Monitor production processes to identify and address any issues or bottlenecks that may arise.Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.Train and develop production staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and quality control, to optimize production processes and resolve technical issues.Maintain production records and reports, including production output, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations and enhance productivity.Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times.Reviews the production schedule daily and allocates resources accordingly to ensure on-time delivery. Collaborates with management to manage staffing, overtime, and production team members' schedules to meet demand.Interacts collaboratively and promptly with other departments to determine best practices to alleviate production disruptions and meet customer shipment and inventory requirements.Directs the setup and adjustment of presses and other production machinery.Manages work areas and ensures that equipment, dies, tools, and work area are kept clean, organized, and free of dirt, debris, clutter, oil, and water.Reviews daily labor records on timecards, oversees, and helps maintain time and production records by reviewing labor tickets of assigned production crew daily, and reconciling any discrepancies.Addresses complaints and resolves departmental process and/or personnel issues per company policies, coordinating with management team members or Human Resources when appropriate.Leads daily huddles to celebrate successes and identify action items. Recommends and works with maintenance, tool room, etc., to implement measures to improve safety, production methods, production efficiency, equipment performance, and quality of the product.Conducts interviews and offers recommendations in the hiring process of production department personnel.Coordinates the on-the-job training of employees as well as ongoing training initiatives.Leads the writing and delivery of performance appraisals and disciplinary actions for production department personnel.Follows all company and equipment operation safety procedures and takes actions to protect and improve the safety of the assigned production crew.Sets up and operates presses and assists with production when needed.Performs other duties as assigned based on company requirements and applicable skills and abilities. Supervisory Responsibilities This role directly supervises the daily activities of employees in the production department. Physical Demands + Work Environment The employee must be able to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to forty (40) pounds and work comfortably in a noisy and potentially hazardous industrial environment. Additionally, they should be capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods. During job duties, the employee may also need to sit, stoop, kneel, climb, or balance occasionally. They must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to forty (40) pounds and may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and a risk of electrical shock. There is occasional exposure to high, precarious places, and specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment often features loud noise levels due to moving mechanical parts.RequirementsExperience, Knowledge + Skills Five years or more of experience within a metal stamping plant or similar industry, with proficiency in setup and operation of progressive die presses and/or manually operated presses.Minimum of two years of supervisory experience within an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in metal stamping or similar industry.Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.Proven track record of driving operational excellence, quality improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.Problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Tow-motor/lift truck training and certification.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, technical journals, publications, and procedure manuals.Familiarity with using various measuring instruments.Basic computer and email proficiency.Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Strong mathematical abilities, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Education High school diploma or equivalent.Associate or bachelor's degree in relatable field preferred.
