Overview Telford Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant for our growing team! Location - 78 Souderton Hatfield Pike, Souderton, PA 18964 Shift Details - We offer a 4/9 schedule with a rotating Saturday. Clinic Hours - Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 7:00pm Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Sunday - Closed Compensation: $19 - $22/hour based on experience Skills: We are looking for someone proficient with restraint, medical terminology, vaccine protocols, and is willing to jump in wherever they are needed. This position is heavily focused on client interaction and assisting in the rooms with clients. Telford Veterinary Hospital is a growing, soon to be, 3.5 doctor practice that cares for dogs, cats and a variety of other species including birds, reptiles and pocket pets. We have a very close-knit sense of community on our team. We offer a wide variety of services, including a new ultrasound machine We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant that works well with others, is looking to be utilized to the fullest scope of their abilities and wants to be part of a progressive team. We have a lot of great in-house lab equipment to run chemistries, hematology, pro-bnp's and more. We also have the new Imagyst. The Imagyst is the new artificially intelligent cytology reader. It reads ear cytologies, fecals, urines, and fine needle aspirates for you. We are growing our technology to include Scribe Note. Scribe Note is the new artificially intelligent technology that records conversations with clients and turns it into veterinary medical documentation with just one click. It saves our veterinary professionals lots of time on charting. That's a win for everyone! As doctors converse with clients about their pet and verbalize their history and examination, Scribe Note captures pertinent details and creates a remarkably accurate transcribed note. The transcribed note can be edited and then copied into the hospital's practice management system. We utilize our Veterinary Assistants as much as possible and encourage them to use the skills and develop new skills along the way. We are a Fear Free certified practice and would pay to have you go through the Fear Free training. We like to have animals participate in their own medical care when possible. Responsibilities How you'll make an impact: * Our Veterinary Assistants assist the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in all of their duties * The Veterinary Assistant helps to prepare animals for exams and surgery. * The Veterinary Assistant aids in performing medical treatments. * The Veterinary Assistant will perform or prepare laboratory tests. * The Veterinary Assistant will administer medications under the direction of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician. * The Veterinary Assistant will obtain and properly handle/prepare in-house and laboratory specimens (cytology, blood draws, blood smear, fecal, etc.) * The Veterinary Assistant works in cooperation with staff to attend to any immediate needs. * The Veterinary Assistant handles animals and their owners in a responsive, courteous and tactful manner, and inform staff and clients of any pertinent medical information related to animal care. * The Veterinary Assistant maintains a healthy, safe, sanitary, pleasant and clean facilities for the animals. Qualifications Physical demands and work environment * The Veterinary Assistant must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker. Requires sufficient ambulatory skills. * The Veterinary Assistant must be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high. * The Veterinary Assistant is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances. * The Veterinary Assistant must be fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position. * The Veterinary Assistant must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
