Perform fisheries management support activities to protect, develop and maintain fish species for recreational and environmental purposes. Collect angler, fish, and habitat data, compile and enter data into electronic databases. Operate and maintain all fisheries field equipment and facilities, including fish ladders, rearing ponds and storage buildings. Assist with fish rearing, marking and stocking from outlying rearing ponds and statewide hatcheries. Collaborate and communicate with other resource professionals and maintain favorable relationships with the public. Engage in intra/interdivisional cooperation and assistance. Assist Statewide Angler Survey Program. Provide for department assistance when necessary. Position Description Must possess or be able to obtain within six months of hire a class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and without air brake restriction . Acquiring and maintaining a valid CDL is a condition of employment. Must obtain a commercial Pesticide Applicator's license within 12 months of hire. Acquiring and maintaining valid Pesticide Applicator's license certification is a condition of employment. Education Possession of an associate's degree in science with course work emphasis in limnology, ichthyology, aquatic systems, or field biology. Experience Fisheries Technician 8 No specific type or amount is required. Fisheries Technician 9 One year of experience performing technical fisheries management activities equivalent to a Fisheries Technician. Fisheries Technician E10 Two years of experience performing technical fisheries management activities equivalent to a Fisheries Technician, including one year equivalent to a Fisheries Technician 9.Fisheries Technician E10 Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher with 16 semester (24 term) credits in job specific or related course work may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
