A Day in the Life The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is the primary technical representative for Medtronic Ventilation Service. The FSE is responsible for promoting and maintaining customer satisfaction by providing on-site maintenance and repair of company and customers' equipment with minimal supervision or direction. Location: Individuals must reside in the greater Los Angeles area Territory: This position will support a territory that covers Southern California, with an emphasis on LA based customers. Occasional out of region travel will also be required Travel: This position will require up to 50% travel requiring an overnight stay. Equipment: This position will work on Puritan Bennett Ventilators primarily but may train on and support other portfolio products. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. * Provides efficient, effective repair and inspection of Puritan Bennett Ventilation equipment. * Performs administrative duties to include service reports, contracts, market analysis and special reports. * Manages assigned company assets, including spare parts inventory, service loaners, test equipment, computers, and vehicle. * Takes ownership of all territory responsibilities necessary to maintain effective and efficient territory operation. * Acts as a technical consultant for developing and nurturing customer relations, liaison between Medtronic Cardiac Surgery and the customer. * Anticipates, plans, schedules, educates, and fulfills customer requirements in a timely manner. * Provides technical support and assistance to sales, other service territories and corporate as needed. Participates in joint sales/service presentations. * Responsible for maintaining and development of all business potential. * Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. * Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. * Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. * Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. * Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. * Maintains effective customer communications and relations. * May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. Required Knowledge and Experience: * High school diploma or GED equivalent required with 2 years of experience of technician or field service experience Nice to Have * Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline * 2+ years of field service experience in the medical device industry * Ability to apply engineering principles such as electrical, mechanical, and biomedical to troubleshooting without complete technical documentation * Ability to troubleshoot problems and technically diagnose medical equipment * Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills * Experience in teaching technical subject matter * Excellent time management skills and detail-oriented * Ability to work independently, self-motivated and without direct supervision * Extensive direct, face-to-face customer contact and interaction * Medical equipment repair, clinical field service, or clinical customer support experience * Ability to work closely with customers, listen to their issues and then develop a plan to increase confidence and satisfaction with our products and services Physical Job Requirements The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$49,600.00 - $74,400.00 The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
