Job SummaryThe Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations, production and warehousing of the packaging plant. Must ensure the quality is being monitored, documented, and improved upon regarding production and warehouse quality control. Directing shipping and receiving forklift operations and warehouse/production forklift operators. Must be able to complete" old and slow" and quarantine area inventory reporting. Responsible for Packaging Department interior appearance and cleanliness. Training Forklift Operators in the operations of the production and warehouse systems. Minimize negative impacts to the environment in all areas of operation. Identify and record problems (non-conformances, incidents and near misses); initiate, provide, implements, and verify solutions to those problems. Ensure continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to the job which include quality, health, safety, security, and environment.ResponsibilitiesSupervise the daily activities of the union employees within the production area to attain maximum productivity and efficiencyAdhere to purchasing policies and proceduresTrain, develop and motivate the personnel under subject's supervisionKeeps abreast of industry development in areas of responsibility, recommending changes in plans and policies as appropriateDefine and implement statistical process control for existing and new products, as outlined by the Quality DepartmentEnsure that all production operations are conducted safely and that all employees obey all Packaging and Facility safety rules and regulationsCompletes special, non-recurring projects as requested by managementCoordinates weekly work schedulesAssist in the writing of procedures for production, safety and operationsPull line samplesCommunicate all operational problems to the Packaging Operations ManagerEnsure that all operations are conducted in a clean and efficient manner and that Packaging house cleaning is kept upMake sure that all paperwork pertaining to production are filled out properly, and proper records such activities are maintainedMust work overtime during busy production schedules and cover other Supervisor's position in any emergency and/or vacationEnsure that materials are stored correctly and rotated on a first in first out basisMust communicate with customer service and quality department in order to facilitate shipments and receipt of materialsCoordinate with Packaging CS Supervisor to ensure all cycle counts have been completed.Will assign quality checks to Forklift Operators and train them to ensure that quality checks are completed for packaging materials.Will be crossed-trained in the terminal division to supervise operationsWith the assistance from the Quality Department, initiate, reviews and updates appropriate ISO documentationUse the Harvest Inventory System for all production activities.Conduct a daily audit of the shift's movement paperwork to ensure it is being filled out correctly.Provide counseling to Forklift Operators and Packaging Filler Operators who may not be filling out the movement paperwork correctly.Requirements and QualificationsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentBachelor's Degree preferredQuality TrainingMinimum of 2 years in operations functionsMinimum of 2 years with inventoryMinimum of 2 years in a quality roleValid Driver's LicenseTWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.Skills and AbilitiesClear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.Ability to understand and communicate in written and verbal communication in the English language.Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.Knowledge of basic mathematics. (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).The ability to utilize simple hand tools, such as knives, tape dispensers, hot melt glue guns, hand pallet jack, etc.The ability to operate corrugated balers and manual stretch wrap machineryThe ability to operate automated palletizing and stretch wrap equipment.Hours of WorkTypical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.Physical and Environmental DemandThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
