THE POSITION Are you a driven and detail-oriented individual who is looking to help plan for a better future in Pennsylvania? If so, the Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is on the lookout for a Transportation Planning Specialist Trainee to join our dynamic team! DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will engage in a range of intricate technical and business activities that facilitate transportation planning at PennDOT. Your responsibilities will include aiding in the creation and revision of statewide or metropolitan plans by conducting geospatial analyses of completed, ongoing, and proposed transportation projects, utilizing transportation planning, environmental, self-generated, and other pertinent data and information. Work Schedule and Additional Information: * Full-time employment * Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. * Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: * A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or * An equivalent combination of experience and training. * Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
