In addition to operations and maintenance, the following types of experience are also qualifying; law enforcement or security, firefighting, environmental education, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, forest management, wildlife management or preservation, or historic preservation or interpretation; OR One year of military service in any of the military branches; OR An Associate's or higher-level degree*, or 60 credit hours of college-level coursework; OR Completion of an appropriate two-year technical / trades school program or two years of experience as a trade assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson. If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience. * Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. Duties Description Under the general direction of the Bear Mountain Park Manager, the incumbent will provide support to the Park Supervisor 1 with administrative responsibilities in the Bear Mountain park office. The duties will include but are not limited to: * answer telephones, file, monitor the park radio communications, provide information to visitors, write letters, and prepare other documents for internal and external communications. * Provide primary office supervision in absence of park supervisor, including revenue collection and preparation of bank deposits. * Prepare daily/weekly attendance and revenue reports, expenditure records, payroll, purchase reconciliation, and issue park permits such as bus permits and special event permits. * Conduct audits, prepare employee paperwork, train and supervise cashiers, revenue and office staff. * Order and maintain office supplies, and assigns, supervises, reviews, trains and evaluates work of lower-level employees. * The candidate must be able to perform general maintenance duties as needed such as landscaping, snow removal and traffic direction. * The selected candidate will assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, assisting and directing staff and working with patrons to minimize potential problems. * The candidate will be expected to assist in any other assigned duties. Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS: * Must be available to work weekends, holidays, as well as some evenings and overtime as needed * Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as a term and condition of employment. * Must be physically able to perform medium physical labor. * Must have the ability to supervise others, communicate effectively and in writing, and read and comprehend written materials. * Must be able to communicate orally with other staff and park patrons. Location Pay: The hiring rate will be the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 9 ($41,399) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). The job rate will be the sum of the statutory job rate ($50,884) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400).
