Apply Job Type Full-time Description Safely and efficiently diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul trucks, or maintain and repair any type of diesel engines. (Includes mechanics working primarily with heavy diesel engines). Requires following safe work practices including but not limited to, hazardous materials, lock out tag out, confined space entry, ladder and climbing safety and hot work. Fabricate hydraulic hoses. Compensation Candidates with a CDL are eligible for a $7,500 signing bonus! (paid in installments over the first 15 months) Paid medical, dental and vision coverage Paid holidays Paid vacation and sick time, Retirement plan available Duties and Responsibilities Assist with daily vehicle inspections Oil and filter preventative maintenance Repair and/or replacement of the following: engine system, transmission system, clutch system, air brake system, wheel end assembly, suspension system, cooling system, coupling system, charging system and light system. Clean/wash work areas, machines, and equipment with shop air, broom, mop, and industrial water hose Detail wash parts with industrial steam cleaner machine Will work with vehicle chemicals such as diesel, gasoline, propane, engine oil, coolant, hydraulic oil and related solvents Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner Follow department and company procedures Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time are business needs evolve over time. Requirements Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel Requirements Must have high school diploma or equivalent Preferred but not required a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B with tanker endorsement and current DOT medical card. An acceptable Motor Vehicle Record Must have minimum two years of experience working enclosed garage Must be certified for air brake system repairs Must have own tools Must be able to interact with drivers and supervisors in a professional and ethical manner while following the principals of good safety Speak effectively, write clearly and follow directions Must be able to lift at least 70 pounds Must be able to physically climb, crawl, and maneuver in and around vehicles in a safe manner. Arc Welding experience (preferred) Physical Demands/Requirements: Constantly (over 2/3): remains in a seated position while using arms, legs and observation to operate vehicle maneuvers around (walks, climbs, stoops, kneels, crouches) kitchen equipment, roof tops and various limited and confined spaces operates, observes and monitors equipment Frequently (1/3-2/3): communicates with co-workers, customers and supervisors moves, lifts, pushes and pulls equipment and material up to 70 lbs. operates electronic devices such as GPS equipment and phone/radio/tablet Occasionally (under 1/3): exposed to outdoor weather conditions exposed to materials that occasionally require use of PPE such as gloves moves across wet/slippery and uneven surfaces electronically and manually completes logs/reports About Baker Commodities, Inc.
