Field Service Engineer - Valmet Automation Systems

Are you the right fit to work on Valmet's specialized Upgrade Team for our Automation Systems Business Line? We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer with knowledge of Valmet Automation systems and industrial process, who will work on our Upgrade Team leading customer projects through all phases and to an exemplary conclusion. The purpose of the role is to act as the main technical interface for the Customer while overseeing and implementing all phases of a given project, including Application Definition and Engineering, Staging and Testing, Installation, System Commissioning and Reporting while working closely with the Customer, Valmet Upgrade Project Manager or Service Manager to ensure that technical and quality targets are met. The Principal Engineer's role includes building relationships with our Customers and internal stakeholders in order to maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction as well as providing feedback and input for continual improvement of our products and processes. Since continued professional development is important at Valmet, you will have the opportunity to learn new processes and equipment as well as mentor and train other individuals whenever possible. Generally, you can expect to self-manage your day-to-day schedule while adapting to the priorities originating from our Customers and the Upgrade Project Manager/Service Manager. Your background: We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent professional experience and competencies. Additionally, five (5) or more years of related experience in a Senior Service Engineering or Project Engineering role within process industries. Candidates should be very familiar with Valmet Automation control systems. We are looking for someone who is interested in learning, can show a high level of initiative, who can prioritize and multitask well, and who can build relationships with Customers, co-workers, and international partners. Fluency in English is required, and fluency in French or Spanish will be considered a plus. Finally, candidates must be willing and able to travel as needed, up to 60% of their time. Travel will typically be throughout North America but may occasionally involve overseas destinations.
