ABOUT THE ROLE The Restaurant Floor Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dining area, ensuring excellent customer service, and managing the floor staff. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain high standards of food and service quality. Key Responsibilities: Supervision and Staff Management: Oversee and coordinate the activities of the floor staff, including servers, bussers, and hosts/hostesses. Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff are knowledgeable about menu items, specials, and restaurant policies. Schedule staff shifts and manage labor costs within budget. Address any staff performance issues promptly and effectively. Customer Service: Ensure all guests receive exceptional service from the moment they enter until they leave. Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional and courteous manner. Monitor dining areas for cleanliness, organization, and ambiance. Operational Management: Maintain inventory of front-of-house supplies and ensure all equipment is in good working order. Oversee the setup and breakdown of dining areas for special events or large parties. Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food delivery. Financial Management: Assist in controlling operational costs and identifying areas for cost reduction. Track sales and report any discrepancies to the General Manager. Help in achieving financial targets through upselling and efficient resource management. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections to ensure the restaurant meets local, state, and federal health standards. Implement and enforce company policies and procedures. Qualifications: Proven experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality industry. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact. Good organizational and multitasking abilities. Knowledge of restaurant management software and POS systems is a plus. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality management is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Capable of performing various physical activities such as reaching, bending, and stooping. Working Conditions: Fast-paced environment with constant interaction with staff and customers. Noise level can be moderate to high during peak dining times. May involve exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and sharp objects.
