About Divino : Nestled within the Glover Park Hotel, Divino brings the essence of Northern Italy to Washington, DC. Our culinary philosophy embraces the farm-to-table experience with fresh, local ingredients, housemade pastas, and wood-fired dishes. The dining room seats 100 guests, with an additional 40 in the bar area and a wine and beer garden for 70. We pride ourselves on offering an unforgettable dining experience that harmonizes Northern Italian flavors with a curated selection of wines sourced from local and international wineries. Position Summary : We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier/Server to join our team. This unique position combines the role of a server with responsibilities in developing and maintaining an extensive, well-curated wine list in collaboration with the management team. The ideal candidate has a deep appreciation for wine, excellent customer service skills, and a collaborative spirit to help drive our wine program and elevate our guests' dining experience. Key Responsibilities : Provide exceptional table service to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. Assist in developing and maintaining an extensive wine list, focused on Italian and other renowned wines, and participate in regular tastings to enhance offerings. Educate and advise guests on wine pairings, making thoughtful recommendations to enhance their meals. Collaborate with management to optimize the wine menu, inventory, and cellar organization. Conduct staff training sessions on wine knowledge and pairings to elevate the team's expertise. Stay updated on wine industry trends, emerging varietals, and local vineyards to ensure an evolving wine program. Support management in maintaining vendor relationships, conducting wine inventory, and managing orders. Qualifications : At least 2 years of experience as a sommelier or server in a fine dining setting. Strong knowledge of Italian wines, wine pairings, and wine list curation. Sommelier certification (preferred but not required). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
