Salary : $49,178.84 - $71,225.62 AnnuallyLocation : Nevada, IAJob Type: Full-TimeJob Number: MT FTE 10.24Department: Facilities ManagementOpening Date: 10/25/2024Closing Date: 11/17/2024 11:59 PM CentralSummary DescriptionThis position performs related technical duties in the preventative and corrective maintenance of county buildings and facilities, including maintaining and repairing HVAC, boiler, electrical, plumbing, septic, life safety, and other building systems. An incumbent in this position may be designated "Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician."First shift position, typical hours 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday. Job Duties/Responsibilities Inspects county buildings and facilities to identify repair and maintenance needs; reports repair needs to supervisor and/or takes corrective action as appropriate.Diagnoses and repairs HVAC, plumbing, electrical, building automation, and other building systems; coordinates with contractors and other departments to make additional repairs.Paints interior and exterior surfaces; repairs and remodels offices and other building structures.Maintains and repairs specialized equipment, including mowers, snow blowers, skid loaders, and trailers.Maintains landscaping for county buildings and facilities; mows grass, trims trees and landscaping, and applies lawn treatments.Installs, monitors, and repairs fire and life safety systems.Maintains inventory of tools and supplies; coordinates with supervisor and vendors to obtain materials and equipment as needed.Participates with snow and ice removal operations.Performs related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITIONKnowledge of public building maintenance principles.Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, building automation, fire and life safety, and other building system maintenance and repair principles.Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles, practices, tools, and equipment.Knowledge of county purchasing policies and procedures.Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.Skill in reading and interpreting maps and drawings and specifications.Skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools.Skill in the repair and maintenance of a variety of building systems.Skill in the use and maintenance of grounds maintenance equipment.Skill in problem solving.Skill in interpersonal relations.Skill in oral and written communication.Qualifications Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma.State/local issued trade license or certification in related trade or sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.E-VERIFY PROCESS: Story County participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each applicant's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. The employee frequently lifts light (24 pounds or less) and occasionally heavy (25 pounds or more) objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, warehouse, and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.Story County offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees regularly working 30 hours or more per week.
