The Wildlife Manager must have excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and working knowledge of computer systems. They assist the Director of Animal Life and collaborate closely with the Wildlife Curator in creating employee scheduling, promoting and enforcing policies and procedures, and managing operational support functions. These include, but are not limited to, oversight of the equestrian center, sled dog kennels, and wildlife operations. This individual must remain knowledgeable of new policies, programs, and equipment within the company protocol. The Wildlife Manager must act in a leadership capacity when the Wildlife Curator is absent, providing clarity and support for both staff and guests. The ideal candidate will possess leadership qualities, maintain a professional appearance, and enjoy working with the public and wildlife. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all-inclusive.) * Deliver internal and external guest service the Nemacolin way, going above and beyond for associates and guests. * Build and retain guest relations, mentoring employees to deliver superior service. * Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company protocols. * Purchase supplies and authorize purchase orders within guidelines for timely procurement. * Supervise guest-facing tours and programs, as well as back-of-house animal care operations, ensuring animal husbandry follows guidelines. * Train line-level associates in the proper handling of programs and animal care. * Create a welcoming environment that conveys the right service message to guests. * Support operating goals, ensuring performance objectives and profit targets are achieved. * Collaborate with the Wildlife Curator to ensure smooth coordination across animal care, programs, and operations. * Manage multiple priorities and projects with efficiency, meeting deadlines under pressure. * Address and resolve guest concerns promptly, escalating issues to the Director when necessary. * Develop strategies in collaboration with the Director and Wildlife Curator to capitalize on short- and long-term opportunities. * Implement and oversee staff training to ensure protocols are maintained and completed on time. * Coordinate with the Curator to schedule farrier, veterinary, dentist, and sheep-shearing services to meet animal health needs. * Utilize office equipment efficiently and maintain proficiency in office software. * Communicate effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders. * Collaborate with the Director of Animal Life and Wildlife Curator to establish appropriate safety protocols and emergency procedures. * Assist in developing and adjusting animal feed guidelines with input from veterinarians and other professionals. * Manage confidential information with discretion. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: * Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Wildlife Biology, or related discipline preferred. * Strong communication skills with expert-level proficiency in professional writing and verbal communication. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Advanced decision-making and problem-solving abilities, utilizing critical thinking. * Ability to collaborate professionally with internal and external contacts. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. * Experience managing financial systems and spreadsheets. * At least 5 years of experience in wildlife care with a strong interest in wildlife management. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. * Frequent standing, walking, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Why Work for Nemacolin?
