We are looking for a passionate and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our back-of-house team, uphold high culinary standards, and ensure efficient kitchen operations. Job Summary: The Kitchen Manager will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including staffing, scheduling, inventory management, and food quality control. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining Colada Shop's standards of excellence and ensuring the consistency and quality of all menu items. The ideal candidate will have a background in kitchen management within the restaurant or hospitality industry and a strong commitment to food safety, staff development, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities: Kitchen Operations Management Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring all food preparation and service meet Colada Shop's quality standards. Coordinate with the front-of-house team to deliver a seamless guest experience. Monitor kitchen workflow and implement efficiencies to maintain timely service, especially during peak hours. Staffing and Training Recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and growth. Schedule shifts to ensure adequate staffing levels and manage employee time-off requests. Conduct regular training on kitchen safety, food handling, and best practices to ensure consistency across all team members. Inventory and Cost Control Conduct proper ordering according to established pars, ensuring ingredients are available without overstocking. Manage food inventory, place orders with suppliers, and oversee deliveries to maintain quality standards. Track and control food costs, portion sizes, and waste to meet financial targets. Maintain accurate inventory logs and supplier records, ensuring consistency and transparency. Work with the Restaurant Controller to implement cost-saving measures and maintain optimal food inventory levels. Vendor and Supplier Relations Maintain relationships with vendors, negotiating terms and pricing to align with Colada Shop's goals. Ensure timely and accurate orders from suppliers, verifying quality and consistency upon delivery. Quality Control and Food Safety Enforce food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with ServSafe and local health regulations. Conduct routine quality checks on all food items, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Menu Development and Seasonal Implementations Assist in implementing seasonal menu items, coordinating with suppliers to secure necessary ingredients and training staff on preparation. Regularly evaluate and adjust kitchen processes to accommodate menu changes and optimize preparation for seasonal transitions. Administrative Duties Maintain kitchen documentation, including inventory logs, supplier invoices, health inspection reports, and temperature records. Review labor and food costs, preparing regular reports for management and adjusting operations to meet targets. Ensure that all kitchen policies and procedures are consistently followed and updated as needed. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or degree preferred. 2+ years of experience in a kitchen management or supervisory role, ideally within the restaurant or hospitality industry. ServSafe certification and compliance with any local food safety and handling requirements. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, inventory management, and kitchen operations. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Proficiency in kitchen management software or systems is a plus.
