Part-time Position - Works up to 15 hours per week KAP Program Year: Now - April 30, 2025 Must be available Monday - Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Fridays as needed). Site Supervisor (Part-time; $14.00 per hour): This position is assigned to the Office on Youth & Human Services Division. Serves as a support to students as they make the transition from childhood to adolescence through tutoring, mentoring and recreational activities. The Kids' Achieving Progress (KAP) program is an afterschool program that helps empower youth to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. Under the general direction of the Program Coordinator, the Site Supervisor is responsible for planning and supervising the daily operations at the daily site. Staff and volunteers provide academic/social support to youth ages 9-14. Site Supervisor Role * Supervise all site staff and volunteers, adhere to policies and procedures to ensure safety and age appropriateness of all activities. * Provide leadership and supervision to staff and children at all times; serving as a positive role model. * Plan, implement and supervise a developmentally and academically appropriate program that meets the social, emotional and behavioral needs of the children. * Maintain an organized, clean and safe learning and recreational environment for all program areas. * Develop and maintain weekly calendar of activities. * Develop and consistently maintain appropriate and professional communication with parents. * Maintain accurate daily attendance sheet and logs * Manage and control inventory of equipment and supplies * Ensure compliance with daily sign in/sign out sheets * Communicate with school personnel to ensure a positive working relationship * Participate in scheduled staff meetings and trainings * Ensure the cleanliness of the rooms utilized * Report all relevant information to the Program Coordinator in a timely fashion * Complete accident, injury, and behavior reports when necessary * Assume additional responsibilities as requested by the Program Coordinator Time Commitment * Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (Friday as needed) * 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. * Minimum: 12 hours per week/Maximum: 18 hours per week * Available to work through the program end date of April 30, 2025 High School diploma and 2-years of direct experience working with elementary school aged youth, or a combination of equivalent education and experience * Must be at least 21 years of age * Valid Virginia driver's license; must have reliable transportation * Successfully complete a pre-employment medical/drug screening and criminal background check. * Knowledge of child development * Excellent human relations skills * Good communication, organizational and time management skills * Current CPR/First Aid Certification (desirable) * Possess desirable qualities including: * Willing and reflective listener * Encouraging and supportive * Patient and flexible * Interested in working with young people * Willing to adhere to all program policies and procedures * Dependable and consistent in meeting the time commitments * Tolerant and respectful of individual and cultural differences The work is generally performed in an office or classroom environment. Typically, the employee may sit to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, stooping, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions. Use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals are minimally required.
