Department BSD MED - Hospital Medicine About the Department The Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS) provides the infrastructure to advance interdisciplinary research and training in health and social sciences at the University of Chicago. Housed under the Dean of the Biological Sciences Division's office, the Center supports and promotes innovation, collaboration, and excellence in research, scholarship, and training. CHeSS serves as an incubator of ideas and supporter of research in health and the social sciences, sponsors seminars and workshops on campus, invites nationally-known scholars and policymakers to speak on a variety of topics, supports the writing and submission of grant applications and fundraising proposals, coordinates new research initiatives and projects, manages several training programs and provides expert research methods consultation during formative and operational phases of investigations. Project Overview: Policymakers face a critical gap in evidence regarding the long-term effects of food and nutrition interventions on population health, health disparities, and cost-effectiveness. Our NIH-funded project (aims to address this gap by utilizing a validated, state-of-the-art dynamic microsimulation model. This model will assess the long-term health outcomes, health equity, and economic impact of four promising policy interventions designed to address food and nutrition insecurity among the US adult population, including various racial/ethnic and socioeconomic groups. Job Summary Under the direction of Dr. David Kim (the project PI), the Project Manager will oversee and coordinate all aspects of this research project, ensuring its successful execution and adherence to project goals and timelines. The role involves managing project operations, liaising with stakeholders, coordinating research activities, performing research-related duties and tasks, and ensuring the integration of data and findings into actionable insights. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in bridging research and policy by providing evidence-based recommendations to inform national priorities related to diet-related diseases and health disparities. Responsibilities * Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure successful delivery within scope, time, and budget constraints. * Oversee the research activities related to the food/nutrition insecurity microsimulation model, including literature searches, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Ensure adherence to research protocols and methodological rigor. * Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Facilitate communication and collaboration with research teams, policymakers, and other relevant parties to ensure alignment with project objectives. Develop policy briefs to communicate findings to policymakers effectively. * Supervise the integration and management of data, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Coordinate data analysis efforts to produce reliable and actionable insights. * Prepare and present reports, briefs, and other documentation to summarize research findings, progress, and recommendations. Contribute to publications and dissemination of results to inform policy and practice. * Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure the quality and integrity of research activities. Address any issues or challenges that arise promptly and effectively. * Manage project budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with NIH guidelines and other funding requirements. Assist in the preparation of grant reports and documentation as needed. * Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project. * Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents. * Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. * -- Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline. * -- Certifications: * -- Preferred Qualifications Education: * Master's degree in Economics, Public Health, Health Policy, or a related field. Experience: * Experience in project management and research coordination, preferably in health policy-related research. * Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and work with diverse stakeholders.
