Server
Nettare - Chicago, IL
Apply NowJob Description
We are looking for someone to add to our team for dinner services 4 nights a week. The primary focus of this role would be serving tables but Nettare is a small team and each member of the team does wear hats that do not fall into traditional roles. You may, for instance, occasionally be asked to man the host stand and barista station for short periods of time or for a shift if other members of staff are using PTO or sick pay. Having experience in bartending is also a plus though not required. Nettare is a bar, restaurant, cafe, and market in West Town whose focus is finding and highlighting midwestern and great lakes produce, producers, and products. The vast majority of our wine, beer, and spirits come from the Great Lakes region and the same is true of our food. Our dinner, lunch, and cocktail menus change frequently and we welcome and encourage collaboration and sharing of opinions. If you would enjoy working in a creative environment that changes often and have an appreciation for local, high quality products then we'd love to hear from you! Compensation details Tips Nettare runs on a non-tipping model. While we do accept tips happily we do include a 20% service fee on our checks in lieu of gratuity. With this we support our higher hourly wages and salaries for our staff. Tips that are given are put into an all-day pool based on hours. BoH Chef D' Parties are in the pool for 8 hours a day as a flat rate. The tip pool works on a point system. You, as a FoH server would earn a 1:1 where each hour worked translates to one hour on the pool. BoH members of staff and support staff such as dishwashers may earn .75:1 or .625:1, and so on. Working the shifts on this schedule it is reasonable to expect an additional $100 in tips per pay period at least based on the last few months of operations. PTO You will receive 10 days of PTO and a normal work week includes 4 days of work (again, possible exceptions for covering other staff using PTO or Sick Leave). All 10 days will be useable after 90 days of employment. PTO does not roll over into the following year. Sick Pay After 30 days of employment you will receive 8 hours of sick pay up front followed by an accrual rate of 1 hour per 35 hours worked. Minimum Hours We expect this position to be scheduled for 30-35 hours a week. We will guarantee a minimum of 50 hours per pay period so you can rest assured that your hours cannot be slashed severely due to a couple slow weeks. If, for some reason, you do not actually clock in for 50 hours in a pay period because your hours were cut you will receive at lest 50 hours of pay but you would not be included in the tip pool for the difference. If, for example, you were scheduled to work only 45 hours in a pay period you would have 45 hours in the tip pool but be paid your base rate for 50 hours. Health Care Reimbursement After 90 days worked you would be added to our health care reimbursement plan which gives $250 per month (paid with the second pay period of each month) as a reimbursement to be used towards healthcare. We are actively exploring options for a group health care plan as our team grows to a size where it becomes realistic to do so. Desired Schedule: Wednesday: 3:15pm - 11:30pm* Friday: 3:15pm - 12:00am* Saturday: 3:15 - 12:00am* Sunday: 4:00pm - 10:30pm* *End times are approximate but reliably fall within a half hour of the listed time. Schedule is subject to change based on your availability and week to week based on other staff members availability but we generally stick to a consistent schedule unless members of staff are absent for PTO or Sick Leave.
