Supervisor - Transportation Supervisor

SUMMARY: The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for dispatching loads to outside carriers, manages rates depending on market conditions, works with outside carriers on lane selection, and engages new carriers for business with George's. The position ensures that carriers arrive on time for assigned loads and monitors/hold carriers accountable for on time delivery. This position is also responsible for the resolution of OS&D claims on outside carriers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: Dispatch loads to outside carriers.Negotiate spot market and carrier rates.Work with carriers to determine lane municate trailer pool needs with carriers and plants.Maintain carrier relationships with existing and new carriers.Track and report OS&D of delivered loads.Broker freight if uncovered by a contract carrier.Monitor on time delivery and communicate with sales if deliveries are running late.Ensure invoices are correct prior to payment.Understand Department of Transportation (DOT0 rules and regulations in terms of driver HOS.Hold carriers responsible for performance and manage carrier scorecards.Determine load miles and recommend routing to carriers.Resolve/track product temperature issues.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position will have supervisory responsibility. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE RequiredAssociate's Degree in Management or related field2 years of logistics experienceStrong computer skills, which includes Microsoft Office Suite
