The UXO Technician III identifies and classifies unexploded ordnance (UXO) and discarded military munitions (DMM) and their fuses as well as excavating and moving munitions acceptable for movement. The UXO Technician III must be able to perform the responsibilities of UXO Sweep Personnel, UXO Technician I and UXO Technician II. Expected Outcomes * Supervise and perform the on-site demilitarization of Munitions of Explosive Concern (MEC) and handling of demolition materials. * Prepare an explosives storage plan per all applicable guidance. * repare required UXO munitions response actions and range maintenance administrative reports * Prepare standard operating procedures for on-site munitions responses and for range clearance activities * Assist in the preparation of risk and hazards analyses * Conduct daily site safety briefings * Supervise the conduct of all on-site UXO-related operations * Inspect, certify and verify Materials Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) as safe, or as to the explosive hazard it may present for transfer within Department of Defense (DoD) or release from DoD control per current policies and standards. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * High School diploma plus 8 years prior military EOD and/or commercial UXO experience in munitions response actions or range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted operation. * Graduate of formal UXO training course of instruction, or Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) assistant courses required. Or graduate of a military EOD school of the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Germany or Australia. * Divers conducting underwater detection and identification of munitions must have completed both the basic and the underwater portions of Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) training (or foreign equivalent). * Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. * Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. * Performing General Physical Activities - Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. * Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events - Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. * Operate Equipment - Utilizing detection equipment and geophysical sensing equipment to locate UXOs; transport non-hazardous materials using a variety of types of equipment and vehicles. * Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate. * Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work - Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work. * Coordinating the Work and Activities of Others - Getting members of a group to work together to accomplish tasks.
