The Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) section is seeking applicants for the position of Clinic Veterinarian. The RASKC team provides pet shelter and field services to 25 cities and unincorporated King County. Their services include pet adoption, responding to animal assistance calls in the field, pet licensing and much more. Scope of Job Duties: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum demonstrate skill and ability to: * Perform examinations and oversee treatment of injured/sick animals brought to the King County Pet Adoption Center. * Perform examinations, surgery and spay/neuter shelter and foster animals. * Monitor animals for unusual conditions during post-operative period. * Provide consultation and advice regarding animals' health, care and recommended treatment. * Recommend referral to another veterinarian or specialist outside of the organization when it is likely to significantly improve the prognosis. * Provide professional advice to animal shelter staff and volunteers regarding animal care and detection of preventable diseases. * Diagnose and treat animal health problems, vaccinate, prescribe medications. * Provide advice to animal owners on nutrition, breeding and behavior. * Perform and oversee medical euthanasia and the need to medically euthanize at levels appropriate for animal welfare. * Respond to disease in the clinic and/or shelter and manage the response to outbreaks. * Perform other duties as assigned. We are looking for candidates who: * Have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from a college of veterinary medicine. * Are advanced in performing high quality, high volume spay/neuter and other surgeries, pathology examinations, euthanasia and other required procedures. * Have experience in public relations and the ability to communicate with a diverse group of internal and external partners. * Are able to deal with ambiguity and quickly make quality decisions. * Can handle multiple competing priorities. * Are skilled in using current software programs to perform word processing, spreadsheets, database and emails software programs. * The most competitive candidates will have experience working in shelter medicine. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * Unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Washington * Valid Drug Enforcement Agency License (or ability to obtain one) * Ability to perform moderate to difficult strenuous manual tasks including lifting animals weighting up to sixty (60) pounds on a frequent basis. * The successful candidate will need to pass a background check. Supplemental Information WORK SCHEDULE: This position typically works four 10 hour shifts, from either Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday thru Saturday and is FMLA Exempt and not eligible for overtime.
