Position: Maintenance Technician Location: Des Moines, IA Type: Full-time, Direct HireSummary: The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for building, repairing, and overhauling manufacturing equipment, jigs, and fixtures. This role involves assisting engineers, production, and manufacturing managers with various repair jobs, building maintenance, and special projects.Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with production and manufacturing leaders to start machines, inspect parts, and troubleshoot issues. Work with the design team and engineers to install or replace machines or parts according to specifications. Build and design custom production equipment using off-the-shelf pieces. Perform repair and overhaul work from blueprints and manuals. Assist in cleaning up facilities and disposing of parts or equipment properly. Conduct routine preventative maintenance on equipment and ensure proper operation before job completion. Follow safety protocols and procedures, including lockout-tagout regulations. Maintain stock of materials and equipment needed for production or maintenance. Install, program, and troubleshoot PLC-controlled automation, camera, and robotic systems. Perform other responsibilities as required. Authority: Request necessary supplies and resources. Report problems with materials, tools, fixtures, or machinery. Suggest improved or alternate methods of design or processes. Qualifications: Minimum of three years' experience in maintenance and repair of equipment. 2-year technical degree from a community college or a 4-year engineering degree in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred. Proficient in using required tools, reading blueprints, and specifications. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including PLCs. Experience with robotics and automation programming. Strong attention to detail and care to prevent damage to complex machines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good attendance and dependability. Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in industrial equipment. Willingness to learn and apply new skills and technologies.
