KINGS RIVER-HARDWICK SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION YARD SUPERVISOR DEFINITION Under the supervision of a certificated employee, is responsible for the control and safety of school children during non-instructional periods and related work as required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED The Yard Supervisor works under the general supervision of the superintendent or designee and does not supervise any other employee. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Observes the behavior and safety of school children on the school ground and in the cafeteria. Enforces school discipline and safety rules and regulations and consults with superiors as needed to maintain order and safety. Attends to/reports injuries of students and determines the need for further medical attention. OTHER DUTIES Performs other duties as required. NECESSARY EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Knowledge of: The general needs and behavior of children. School and school ground rules, regulations and safety requirements. Basic first aid & CPR. Ability to: Maintain discipline and control of students engaged in a variety of activities. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: Education: Completion of the eighth grade. Experience: Work involving contact with children. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment: Indoor and outdoor environment. Physical Abilities: Vision to observe students; standing for extended periods of time, running, walking, stooping and bending; and hearing and speaking to exchange information.
