GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: We are looking for a highly motivated, engaging and organized Research Project Manager who is passionate about identifying and defining the best possible strategies that can be used to advance of science of retaining participants in research, and helping participants obtain value from research participation in the All of Us Research Program. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the effort to identify best and promising practices or innovations in retaining a diverse group of people in observational research, by engaging with stakeholders in the All of Us Research Program across the US. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) All of Us Research Program is a landmark longitudinal research study that aims to engage one million or more U.S. participants to enable research that will, over time, improve the ability to prevent and treat disease based on individual differences in lifestyle, environment and genetics. Participants are invited to contribute to All of Us over a 10- year period by sharing a range of data about themselves, completing questionnaires, granting access to their electronic health records, providing blood and urine samples, undergoing a physical evaluation, and sharing real-time information via smartphones or wearable devices. A primary goal of All of Us is to create a national resource for researchers to help answer important questions about a variety of health conditions. The All of Us Research Program will support research in various areas, including pharmacogenetics, precision medicine, prediction, and prevention, to advance treatments of diseases. To achieve success in All of Us, state-of-the art methods will assist in engaging participants across the 10 years of their involvement in the program ("retention") and continuing to ensure participants receive value from research participation. Mass General Brigham (MGB), in collaboration with Boston Medical Center (BMC), was selected as one of ten enrollment sites for the All of Us Research program. More than 30,000 participants were enrolled in All of Us across New England. The MGB and BMC sites have been successful in retaining more than 40% of participants in activities for All of Us. Now, the NIH national program is seeking support to define best practices for participant engagement and "retention" in All of Us that can be used by All of Us sites across the US, to support participants to continue to share information and gain value from research for the duration of their participation in the program. The Research Project Manager will lead the effort to identify and summarize best practices, promising practices, and innovative ideas for retention in observational longitudinal studies such as All of Us, with a focus on equity and diversity in practices to retain and ensure value of research participation for diverse groups. In this role, the successful candidate will manage a Research Assistant or assistants who will support the Research Manager in performing and summarizing literature, engaging and interviewing stakeholders, developing creative and appealing summarizes for use in toolkits, and contributing to writing for summary reports and scientific publications. The successful Research Project Manager will function with self-direction and work directly with the All of Us New England Consortium Senior Program Manager and Principal Investigators (PIs) with input from an NIH Program Officer and the national program. The Research Program Manager will also build relationships with retention managers and staff at All of Us sites across the country. The Research Project Manager is responsible for the daily execution of principal duties and responsibilities described below and aspects of project management and administration including operational, budgetary, communication, training, and when required, research subject education components. The Program Manager is also responsible for training and direct supervision of Research Assistant and team s. Principal duties may vary over time with project demands. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Principal responsibilities include: 1. The Research Project Manager under the supervision of the PIs and the Sr Program Manager, will be responsible for taking the lead to manage and supervise processes to ensure completed deliverables that identify and disseminate best practices for retention across the NIH All of Us Consortium, and proposing strategies to ensure research participants gain value from participating in research, with a focus on diverse groups that are underrepresented in biomedical research. Specific responsibilities include: 2. Reviewing current practices by reviewing and synthesizing NIH program materials 3. Supervising research assistants to complete and synthesize literature reviews and documents results of literature searches 4. Hosting and leading discussions with NIH All of Us program managers in retention to obtain information on current and recommended practices 5. Developing interview guides, conducting, and summarizing interviews with stakeholders, including participant partners, community advisory groups, scientist investigators, and All of Us retention managers 6. Leading the development of materials and deliverables that summarize recommendations in scientific papers and in toolkits. Additionally the Research Manager: 1. Has direct management responsibility for All of Us study personnel including hiring, discipline, evaluation, orientation, training, and suggested firing. Supervises the daily activities of Research Assistants. 2. Provides primary project management for the project, including maintaining dates to ensure the project meets key deadlines and milestones, and completing milestone reports, and ensuring monthly financial reports are submitted on time. 3. On a daily basis, executes the procedural, managerial, and policy decisions of PIs and Administration, including the Sr Program Manager and Financial Director. Directly responds to inquiries regarding study protocol and policy. This includes managing inquiries from the Program Officer, investigators, consortia members, and research staff. 4. Participates in the formulation of policies and procedures for the study. Identifies modifications needed and works to implement solutions. 5. Maintains regulatory compliance (e.g. human subjects training, delegation logs) as appropriate 6. Is responsible for developing and managing the project's operating budgets in collaboration with the MGB Finance director. 7. Attends meetings and scientific conferences when appropriate. 8. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree required. * Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in a research-related field required. * Supervisory experience required. * Must have outstanding writing skills. * Must have excellent verbal communication skills. Must be able to interpret information as appropriate, answer complex questions in a professional manner, and communicate in a courteous, clear, and concise manner. Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds, from students through to senior faculty, and individuals for whom English is not a first language and who may have different styles of communication. * Must have strong organizational and project management skills as well as attention to detail. * Must have excellent technology skills: outstanding computer skills, including the ability to use word processing, email/outlook, excel, and other applications. Strong working knowledge of NIH contract procedures and funding policies WORKING CONDITIONS: Describe the conditions in which the work is performed. 1. Works in normal office environment and virtually in a hybrid manner. Travels to multiple MGB and unaffiliated sites as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: List the number of FTEs supervised. Will have direct supervisory responsibility of All of Us research team (at least 1-2 reports) FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Indicate financial "scope" information, i.e.: size of budget, volume, revenue, etc. Develops /manages budgets when required.
