Department: Comprehensive Integrated Research Operations (CIRO) * ---- Administration Position Title: Research Project Manager - Comprehensive Integrated Research Office (CIRO) Job Family Group: Professional Staff Job Description Summary: The Comprehensive Integrated Research Office (CIRO) is a centralized unit that provides services to support the Institution's research enterprise. The Research Project Manager supports and manages complex research portfolios in collaboration within institutional structures, faculty, and sponsors. This position will manage and coordinate all extramural development, major program projects, or set of programs established to address a key area of specialized focus. This position provides a full range of administrative support for the research enterprise in the Institution. However, the position's primary goal will be to ensure adequate support to faculty, including overseeing the management of extramural funds while providing various services and technical support to the department. Job Description: Job Duties * Provide advanced professional and technical leadership, consultation, and expertise within the program's area of focus, including researching and identifying funding opportunities for researchers across various disciplines. * Support of the proposal implementation of complex program projects, basic and clinical research, and contracts in collaboration with faculty, using discretion and independent judgment to make decisions that impact the successful management of grants and contracts. * Serve as a liaison to sponsors, multi-sites, internal stakeholders, contract research organizations, principal investigators, community partners, and internal units as needed. * Facilitate strategic growth to support the development of major grant proposals. * Provide at least quarterly reviews with key project leaders to assess projected financial portfolio, including prospective proposals submissions, ensuring that research program objectives are communicated, met, and results are documented. * Use discretion and independent judgment to contribute to the development of division and departmental plans and objectives for administrative and financial support of large-scale research projects. * Support the internal implementation of general principles of GAAP standards in reviewing financial compliance and consistency with contracts and agreements over the life of the project, following institutional and sponsor guidelines. * Oversee, manage, evaluate, and monitor performance of direct reports; develop annual target goals for supporting staff; meets regularly and provide feedback to staff on goals and accomplishments in performance evaluations. * Support the training, development, management and mentoring of staff providing instruction, guidance and reference materials for project, institution, and agency-specific policies and procedures. * Assist the Director in developing standard operating procedures and workflow processes for CIRO; identify, evaluate, and recommend process improvements in all areas relating to streamlining processes and increasing efficiency to maximize resources, ensuring effective and efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards for both department and self. * Provide support in the fiscal management of the department's research enterprise. * This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required Qualifications Education: * Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. Work Experience: * 5 years of related work experience that includes at least: * 2 years in Project Management. * 2 years in Grant Management. * Experience in design, implementation, or support of multi-site studies. Preferred Qualifications Education: * Master's degree, Master of Public Health or a degree in Research Administration. Certifications/Licenses: CRA, CCRP, CCRC Work Experience: * 5 years in Project Management. * 3 years in a large clinical unit within academia or research administration. Employee Type: Regular Time Type: Full time Rate Type: Salary Compensation Statement: The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above. Pay Range: $83,000.00 - $131,000.00 Minimum $83,000.00 Midpoint $107,000.00 Maximum $131,000.00
