Position Purpose: Performs a variety operations and maintenance on infrastructure systems including water distribution, sewer and storm water collection, streets, and other items as assigned. The work includes but is not limited to installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment presently on Fort Monroe. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: * Follow all safety protocols and ensure everyone on the project does the same. * Ability to perform maintenance, repairs, and installation on water distribution and sewer collection systems. Knowledge of piping systems, valves, pumps, and other components of utility systems. * Ability to utilize generators, vacuum trailers, jetters, pressure washers, forklifts, and similar equipment to accomplish operations and maintenance activities. * Proficient understanding and use of all conventional tools and meters to maintain, repair, calibrate and test components found in the systems described above. * Prepare technical reports to accurately describe conditions and work performed. * Prepares appropriate documentation for completion of work orders. * Reads meters and accurately reports data. * Maintain and develop good customer relations while promoting the image of the company. Work Environment: * Required to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and stairs. * Required to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors. * May be required to work periodic overtime or on weekends and holidays for emergencies or client required special events. Qualifications Education/Experience/Background: * High School Diploma/GED is required. * 5 plus years of experience working in the trades in a field service role. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Required adhering to customer and facility rules and regulations. * Possesses ability to troubleshoot and problem solve mechanical and/or piping systems. Required Certification/Licenses/Training: * Must have a valid VA driver's license, and safe driving record. * CDL license is desirable but not mandatory. * A Virginia Waterworks Class 6 or better license is desirable but not mandatory. Physical Requirements: * Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment where proper safety procedures warrant their use. * Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
