Job PurposeUnder the direction of the National Facilities Director, the Maintenance Technician will ensure that all facilities are properly maintained in a manner which reflects our organizational pride and the high standards of care for the students we serve. The Facilities/Maintenance Technician will actively assist with the maintenance of all school facilities including landscaping, parking surfaces, HVAC systems, and mechanical/electrical systems.Essential Responsibilities and CompetenciesProactively maintain mechanical and electrical equipment with the goal of minimizing system down time and expensive repairsEnsure data entry into the system to handle all maintenance service requests from building managers and ensure facilities are fully operational on all school daysAssess maintenance issues and determine if an outside vendor needs to be brought in to remedy the situationCoordinate and collaborate with all vendors to ensure they are complete and meet the expectations of the building leaderInspect school facilities and grounds regularly to assess maintenance and aesthetic needsWork with school site employees to address maintenance concerns or issuesMaintenance may include the following items:Trash removal-dumpsters, site, interiorLandscaping-lawn, weed control, plant careLighting-replace bulbs, ballastsSite drainage-storm drains, gutter, downspoutsPlumbing fixtures-repair, adjust, replaceFire suppression-fire extinguishers, fire sprinkling systemRailings-inspect and touch upCounters and bathroom partitions-repairBaseboards and moldings Exterior painting or surface repairElevatorPest control Roof repair and maintenance Windows and doors-locks & lubricationHVAC units-filters and cleaning Low voltage cabling & terminationsExterior and interior lighting-programParking lot gates-operators, hardware and doorsOther miscellaneous repairs Perform other duties as requested or requiredLive and act as a biblical role model and Open Sky Education representative in your life for our scholars, team members and community.Agree to comply at all times with our Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.Agree to engage in the faith life of our scholars and in collaboration with other team membersQualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent1 or more years of work experience in building maintenance at commercial facilitiesPrevious experience working in a school environment preferredAbility to complete basic repairs and to know when a project requires expertiseMeet all physical demands of the positionWillingness to travel to multiple locationsProficient in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookPhysical RequirementsBend/Stoop/Squat/Kneel Perform routine maintenanceClimb Stairs Routine duties require access to all levelsPush or Pull Move equipment, appliances, open and close doors, etc.Comfortable operating cleaning machineryReach above Shoulder Perform routine maintenance/repairs, stock and remove equipment, to place trash in dumpsterClimb Ladders Perform routine cleaningGrasp/Grip/Turning Handle tools and equipment, perform routine cleaningFinger Dexterity Handle tools and equipment, perform routine cleaningLifting/carrying (supplies, trash receptacles, ladders, etc.): Occasional need (1% to 33% of the time) 25 - 75 lbs. Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) 1 - 25 lbs.
