Boston Dynamics is looking for a highly motivated Engineering professional to join our Field Applications Engineering team who has deep technical knowledge in robot system architecture and robotic systems level validation to be applied across our Spot and Stretch product lines. This person will be an expert in implementation requirements of our robots working directly with customers, systems engineering, product management, and sales/marketing. Staff level team members are expected to act as a technical leader across multiple aspects of the overall customer experience and system design. This person will be responsible for consulting and architecting the manners in which our robots interact with the customers' environment. Due to the technical expertise required within both the warehouse material handling industry and the advanced robotics industry this position is not open to junior engineering professionals with less than 5 years of relevant experience. Key Responsibilities: * Technical Contributor with solutions architecture expertise in multiple engineering specialties such as network architecture, software development, PLC safety system architecture, and peripheral selection/commissioning. * Lead the communication flow and be the subject matter expert between the customer, automation engineering, systems engineering, and product management. * Using your vast experience in complete systems design, develop the technical checklists and transition points from contract execution, to automation engineering and design, customer training and acceptance, and onto support engineering. * Partner with Product and Systems Engineering colleagues to generate feedback and capture the key or missing requirements before they are found in the field. * Rapidly identify system level roadblocks, isolate the root cause, and move a solution forward to keep our timelines on track. * Expert level ability to contribute to interdisciplinary technical assignments. You Must Have: * BS in Mechanical, Robotics, or Mechatronics Engineering is preferred. * Minimum 5+ years' direct relative experience working in fast paced technology integration. * Expertise using Linux as your primary work station, occasionally needing windows for CAD software. * Expert user of issue tracking systems (JIRA) and scheduling tools like Smartsheets. * A positive attitude and passion for getting hands on and supporting the team in bringing our products into production. * Ability to work in teams, digest information, and align with cross-functional organizations, both internal and external, to deliver our products into production on time and on budget. * Strong Communication skills in both spoken and written form. * Ability to adapt to project challenges in a fast paced, quickly changing environment. We Value: * Previous project experience implementing complex interdisciplinary systems. * Expertise with robotic systems or systems engineering to identify the Interface Requirements for each system involved, whether it be Boston Dynamic's metal, third party solutions, or customer enabled solutions. * A strong track record of successful contribution to group or customer facing projects. * Strong professional network with automated material handling, control, and/or warehouse management systems and conveyor solutions is a must. * Knowledge of testing, manufacturing, and quality control processes. * A self-motivated and positive attitude. * Agility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment. * Comfort with processes and goals that are not always formalized in writing.
