SUMMARYThe Production Supervisor has to ensure that within their responsibility area the preparation and execution of the tasks are complete and according to schedule. They are also to assure the check and release of the work results are carried out according to the requests and rules of the PSI HSE and quality management system.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Ensure that all PSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and metInterviews potential candidates for positions within their teamDisciplines the non- or poor-work performersProvides positive reinforcement to above-average performersCoordinates activities of their own team with other teams' activities and sub-contractorsMaintain a trouble-free production environmentMaintain a safe and clean working area at all times in order to perform quality workLeadership, instruction and control of his/her team related to efficiency and quality goalsMotivation and training of employeesFamiliar with performance standards and implementation of industry best practices to achieve optimal time/costs resultsResponsible for taking care of quality standards, costs and performing the work according to scheduleDaily feedback of work progress, used production hours and quality resultsGuarantee the readiness of all machines and equipment in the responsibility areaCooperate with the preparation team related to work packages, material deliveries and improvementsPerform internal inspections and present the work results to the classification organization and the building management during the official inspectionsDaily safety instructions and continuous checks related to HSE requirements and cleanlinessWork execution according to the valid quality standardsFlexible cooperation with the employees in design, planning and productionContinuous manning tracking, progress reporting, and budget control and updating regularly the production data in the data systemsPlanning and organization of needed transportOrder of supply storage materialPlanning and defining of needed manpowerWork according to building methodologyPerforms other related duties as required and assignedCOMPETENCIESAble to communication effectively with all levels of the organization both verbal and writtenDecision Making/Problem SolvingAdaptability and Organizational skills and understandingConflict resolutionSelf-managementThoroughness, Flexibility and IntegrityWillingness and ability to work as a team memberSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTYSupervise production workers within his/her team.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCESuccessful degree of studies as mechanical engineer or naval architect is preferable with at least 3 years' supervisory experience5 to 15 years' professional experience: in shipyards with shipbuilding production or ship repair, in businesses with manufacturing of heavy steel structures, in the production of pressure vessels, boilers and other quality productsProvable welding/shipbuilding technical knowledgeSeveral years of experience in the instruction of production teams Several years of experience in the use of computersExperiences with modern production machines and automated production lines, as well as modern building methodsWORK ENVIRONMENTEnvironmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.*Philly Shipyard is a TOBACCO FREE facility.
