Description Patuxent River Park, located in Upper Marlboro, MD, is seeking a Part-time, Seasonal Park General Maintenance Worker to perform general park maintenance work as part of a small group involving moderate responsibility, complexity, and variety. The successful candidate will perform general grounds and trail maintenance, custodial work, landscaping, and routine building maintenance. This position will work Sunday through Wednesday OR Wednesday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The position pays at a rate of $18.00 per hour. Applicants must be flexible, cooperative and have a positive attitude. Examples of Important Duties * Operate vehicles and equipment including riding mowers, tractors with attachments, large trucks, weed eaters, hand tools, and leaf blowers. * General custodial duties include cleaning and restocking of bathrooms and emptying trash & recycling containers * General landscaping duties include planting, weeding, trimming and removing trees and shrubs * Responds to emergencies including inclement weather conditions/snow removal * Split, load, and restock firewood * Open park gates on weekends * Special event support including tent set up and break down, tables and chairs set up and break down, etc. * Perform assignments independently or as part of a team * Keep supervisor up to date on assigned work tasks Minimum Qualifications * Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds; * Have at least one year experience in groundskeeping, building maintenance, or park maintenance; * Be able to read and write; and * Hold a valid driver's license. Supplemental Information A criminal background check will be completed prior to hire. May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. Benefits are not provided; however, this position accrues paid sick leave up to 40 hours per year.
