CentralCare Inc - Location: Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX Pay Rate: $24.00/hour Sign-On Bonus: $500 Minimum Qualifications: • Degree/Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and they must graduate from a state Board accredited program and have an unrestricted LVN/PN license. • Experience: Trainee Health Squadron (THLS) - One year of practical or vocational nurse experience in clinic, lab, or immunizations. Must have strong computer skills. • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse. •Certifications: Must hold current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Core Duties: • Initiate, perform, and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. • Navigate Electronic Medical Record software to order studies, medications, create lab labels and armbands for large population, verifying for accuracy. • Effectively documents nursing care delivered in the ambulatory care setting. • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. • Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness. • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF. • Performs/assists with procedures such as administration of oxygen, visual acuity tests, EKGs, irrigation of eyes and ears, tympanograms, splinting, phlebotomy, and other clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established protocols. • Ensures all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift. Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed. Ensures medication/supplies are replenished. • Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate. • May be required to work various shifts or augment clinical nursing support during the absence of other team nurses due to illness, leave or deployment. • Collaborate with the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or clinical nurse specialist in the health care/education of patients. • Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate. • Complete assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information. • Observe, identify, and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment- assisted care and patient/family education. • Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures. • Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed. Staffing and Scheduling: Work shifts will be between 0600 - 1830, Monday through Friday; the scheduled shifts within this period of coverage will be at the discretion of the squadron commander (and may be further delegated as deemed necessary). Normal work schedules will be 9-hour shifts, to include a 1-hour non-paid lunch each day, not to exceed 40 hours per week or 80 hours per two weeks.
