JOB DESCRIPTION: Employees in this job perform the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, and facility systems. This plant uses processes covered under Process Safety Management (PSM) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and regulations. Equipment types are pumps, hydraulic systems, pressure vessels, process reactors, blending vessels, holding tanks, vacuum systems, condensers, complex piping systems, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, air driers, filters, conveyors, drive systems, and others. Good experience in pump rebuilds and mechanical seal installation and adjustment is necessary. JOB DUTIES: * Able to perform and understand corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance procedures. * Requisitions supplies, materials, and tools as required by team lead or manager. * Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, pumps, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and process equipment. * Repair mechanical equipment including pumps, conveyors, gear reducers, seals, bearings, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, blowers, and vacuum systems. * Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, hand tools and power tools. * Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communication actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. * Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of production. * Calibration of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation loops. This would include pressure, temperature, flow, viscosity, etc. control loops. * Tests systems including analog/digital meters, ohm meters, high voltage meters, amp meters, high potential testers, calibrators, and data recorders. * Identifies and isolates faulty electric, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and computerized parts, components, circuits, or panels. * Programs, troubleshoots, and modifies various electronic controllers such as PLCs, VFDs, RTUs, and DCS. * Tests power distribution, transformers, circuit breakers, meters, and other apparatus; performs routine maintenance of electrical equipment and supplies. * Records results, reports, and completes work orders relative to maintenance process and assigned work. * Perform pre job safety analysis to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. * Understanding of Process Safety Management and associated mechanical integrity principles. * Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) relating to maintenance work. * Inspects buildings to determine maintenance needs by visual observation, gages, meters, and other test devices. * Enters confined spaces using appropriate permit procedures and equipment, in accordance with established safety practices. * Studies blueprints and diagrams to troubleshoot problems and accomplish tasks. * Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables. * Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct. * Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, principles, practices, tools, and equipment of the maintenance trades. * Considerable knowledge of electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water systems, HVAC and other equipment and systems of the maintenance trades. * Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of mechanical and electrical maintenance. * Considerable knowledge of the principles of mechanical equipment design and fabrication. * Basic knowledge of the principles of industrial electricity and electro-mechanical systems. * Electrical components and wiring configurations used in industrial systems. * Testing procedures used to detect problems, including use of typical testing instruments. * Safety precautions and procedures pertaining to the work, particularly relating to the operation of large pumps and motors and high electrical voltages. * VFD, PLC, SCADA and DCS troubleshooting, repair and programming. * Safety practices and procedures including high and low voltage, lockout/tagout and confined space entry. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. * Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. * Understanding of TPM, RCA, and similar continuous improvement methodologies. * Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. * Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete variables. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others. * Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. * Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources * Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Working Conditions Some jobs require an employee to work in an environment that involves exposure to heat, humidity, unpleasant and noxious fumes, and odors. * Some jobs require an employee to be exposed to inclement weather conditions. Physical Requirements: * The job duties require an employee to bend, reach, stoop, stand and/or walk for extended periods. * The job duties require an employee to lift and/or move heavy objects up to 50 lbs. * The job may require climbing steps up to and including 500 ft. Education: * Education typically acquired through completion of high school. * 2-year technical school degree is desirable * 3-5 years of on-the-job (validated) performance can be used as 2-year technical equivalent. Experience: * Five years of experience equivalent to a Maintenance Mechanic, Pump Mechanic, or Refrigeration Mechanic. * Two years' experience as an industrial electrician is desirable. Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications: * NCCER certified plus or equivalent certification as Millwright, Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, or other skilled trade desirable.
