Colwen Design & Purchasing is in search of a Box Truck Driver/ Warehouse Associate to join our Design and purchasing team. Previous experience as a truck driver or in a similar role is preferred with knowledge of box truck operation and safety procedures.In this combination role, The Box Truck Driver is responsible for transporting goods and materials to various locations while ensuring timely and safe delivery. This role involves operating a box truck, handling shipments, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness and safety. You would also be required to perform a variety of warehouse duties relating to shipping, receiving, storage, and the inventory of items. This position will primarily be located out of our Fitchburg, MA location but the position also requires flexibility to travel and work in our Hooksett, NH location when needed.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Operate a box truck to deliver products and materials to customers, businesses, or distribution centers according to scheduled routes or delivery instructions.Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on the truck, including fluid levels, brakes, tires, and lights and report any vehicle issues.Follow DOT regulations Assist with loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage. Secure cargo using appropriate methods and equipment.Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and any other required documentation. Complete delivery paperwork and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations. Ensure the truck is equipped with necessary safety gear and emergency equipment.Interact professionally with customers during deliveries, addressing any issues or concerns.Obtain necessary signatures and documentation for deliveries.Verifying that shipments either being sent and or delivered are accurate by cross-referencing BOL's and pick lists.Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and traffic challenges.Loading and unloading of trucks to include pallets as well as individual itemsProperly securing cargo for shipping as well as being housed in the warehousesCompletion and verification of shipments either being received or shipped. Document any damage with photos and written details as back up for filing claims with the vendorsOperating electric pallet jack, scissor lift, and forklift to safely complete tasks and assignments.Perform shipping, receiving, storing, and inventorying of goods and materialsEnsure that items and materials are delivered in a safe and timely mannerOther duties as assignedRequirements:Must be over 21 years of age and eligible to acquire a medical card to operate the Box Truck.Ability to lift and carry heavy loads up to 75 lbs., and to perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading.This job requires standing, lifting, bending, and operating a vehicle for extended periods.Smith System driving certification to be completed in the first week of employment.Active motor vehicle driver's license with a solid driving record to meet insurance carrier eligibility requirements to drive the Box Truck.Forklift CertificationAble to work independently.Strong verbal and written communication skillsPossess excellent customer service skillsOrganizational skills, self-starter and strong attention to detail.
