Maimonides has an immediate opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic to perform major installations and repairs to Plant equipment, inspects and performs preventive maintenance on all hospital equipment. You will ensure that a safe, healthy and comfortable environment is maintained throughout the hospital for patients, staff and visitors. You will respond to hospital plan emergencies and in-house calls and make repairs and/or reports, determine the cause of equipment or system failure by analyzing blue - prints, sketches and/or diagram. Other duties include: * Reading and understanding blueprints, diagrams and sketches. * Drawing sketches or updating prints to reflect installations or changes. * Submitting take offs from prints to the VP Facilities * Submit estimation and layout of installations & material needs to the VP Director * Analyzing equipment or systems for failure, replacement, modifications and/or modernization. * Maintain Hospital equipment, water transport, electrical systems, medical gases, boilers, structures, plumbing, and drainage equipment & associated equipment and structures. * Brazing of metals, bracing of plumbing and water distribution piping, and associated structural metal, handling, repairs to electrical, plumbing, and building systems. * Performing repairs to building structures/interiors, wall/ceiling repairs, minor touch-up painting and the plumbing systems. We require: * High School Diploma or equivalent required * Vocational Trade School preferred. * 3-5 years of journeyman experience as a mechanic in a hospital environment or the equivalent experience as a mechanic, i.e. Electrical, Air Conditioning, Plumbing., * Additional training (degree, certificate) in HVAC, Electricity, plumbing, boilers is essential * Understanding and knowledge to repair boilers mechanical systems, hospital * Knowledge of boilers, chillers, pumps and associated equipment and controllers. three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a mechanic in a hospital environment or the equivalent experience as a mechanic from a specialized area of industry, i.e. Electrical, Air Conditioning, Plumbing. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to work with minimal supervision * Ability to understand and follow instructions * Ability to direct others while performing major repairs and/or installations. * Ability to repair minor electrical, plumbing, control systems, HVAC, and boiler systems.
