JOB IDENTIFICATION: Job Title: Front Desk Associate - Prairie Lakes Grade: IV - $15.00/hour FLSA: Non-Exempt, Hours not to exceed 950/year Department: Recreation SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Athletics & Facilities Manager/Supervisor Supervises: N/A BASIC FUNCTION: Front Desk Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, greeting and checking in members, handling cash transactions and registration for services, programs and facility memberships and having a solid knowledge of Des Plaines Park District operations. SCHEDULE: Night and weekend shifts needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Greeting the public. Demonstrate and promote positive guest relations and exceptional customer service. Provide information on Park District activities and facilities. * Responsible for cash control of front desk cash drawer and incoming cash registrations. * Answering all incoming phone calls and in person inquiries, addressing caller inquiries or routing to the proper person, if necessary. * Respond to emergencies in the facility which may include incidents of a serious nature. * Register applicants for Fitness Center memberships, Resident I.D. Cards, Pool Passes and programs. * Sell PLCC fitness center memberships, programs and rentals. Give tours as needed. * Assume responsibilities of Prairie Lakes Manager when other managers are not present. * Perform photocopying or other project needs for the Park District staff. * Receive and distribute incoming mail. * Take reservations for babysitting and racquetball courts. * Print out class rosters for instructors. * Develop and maintain working knowledge of telephone system, copy machine, building intercom, pass card printer, any other office equipment, POS system and RecTrac software. * Check with supervisor daily, when conflicts or time does not allow completion of work for prioritization of work to be accomplished. * Act as Person in Charge of PLCC in the event of an emergency if Manager or Supervisor are not present, according to Crisis Manual. * Make decisions and problem solve issues that arise during shift. * Be aware of all activities scheduled in the facility during shift. OTHER DUTIES: * Communicate openly with Facility Manager and other staff to ensure the smooth operations of the facility. * Maintain a proper inventory of clean towels. Wash and dry towels as needed (approx. 1 load/hour). * Keep work area and lobby clean. Including vacuuming, dusting and wiping down surfaces. * Complete tracking reports as requested by Facility Manager. * Direct patrons in the event of an emergency, such as fire, severe weather. * Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual * Perform additional duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age or older Office experience, cash handling and ability to handle public contact preferred.
