The Transportation Solutions CI Engineer role will champion our goals for Continuous Improvement into a targeted account, customer specific direction while maintaining our organizational standards. This role will have the ability to focus on solutions for large and complex customers or be able to look across a multi-customer control tower and enable us to drive efficiency and cost savings across the business. Its primary focus is on monitoring the performance of the operation, identifying where customer opportunities are in the network, and using best in class technology and tools to drive savings and efficiency that the customer and DHL will benefit from. * Responsible for defining, developing, implementing, and managing the process (be it dev ops or stage gate) for the implementation of transportation and/or process based continuous improvement projects from opportunity identification through delivery/stabilization. * Routinely perform network analysis and right sizing of solutions including use of fleet & common carriers, backhaul opportunities & empty mile reduction, use of spot market, and other solutions such as pool points, freight trapping, sailing schedules, etc. * Support new business pursuits via elements of Order to Delivery (O2D) working with the MT Steering Committee, the TMC operations, and MT carrier management, and the MT solutions director. * Develops, maintains, and executes a CI roadmap either for a larger scale MT customer or multiple smaller scale MT customers * Work closely with vendors to extract data and actionable intelligence to continuously improve on emerging technology * Provide regular (monthly) CI project progress updates and related improvement activity with CI Team leads, Ops leads, and customers as needed * Measure performance against a standard program savings tool and ensure operations is following through on identified optimization solutions. Identify barriers and solutions to address them. * Insure all standard quality practices are deployed regarding DHL BASICS and Operational Management System * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience * MBA or MBLE preferred Minimum Experience * 4+ years' experience in Transportation * Strong analytical network design capabilities; able to review control reports and discuss with SD the appropriate transportation analysis required to develop a customer business case * Familiar with MT/LLP/Fleet operations and how a TMS is deployed and can use best practices / processes across all operations * Broad understanding of Transportation Operations and impact to supply chain * Strong influencing and negotiating ability (sphere of influence) * Financial acumen and understanding of business drivers * Expert level in MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written * Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, and to establish and manage own work schedule / weekly activity * Technical acumen around TMS, Automation, Business Intelligence, and other emerging technologies
